The next Milan Design Week will take place from 8th until 13th April 2025

From the 16th to 21st April, Milan Design Week and the associated Salone del Mobile, EuroCucina and Salone Internazionale del Bagno exhibitions were all everyone in the city would talk about. If uncertainties have been shaking the world in recent times, it seems that the search for new ideas, the need to network and an appreciation for beauty are still very strong within the industry at large. The trade show registered more than 361,000 visitors, a 17.1% increase compared to 2023.
Some would say that the event constitutes a welcomed “bubble” oozing positivity and joy, while others might argue that EuroCucina and Salone Internazionale del Bagno exhibitions play a big part in that surge. Kitchen and bathrooms being at the centre of any design project, it is fair to assume that it attracted more professionals, like showroom managers, dedicated to these areas.

At Journal des Palaces, we joined the crowd without any restrictions, opened to discover the bold and the beautiful displayed around the city.

1. Lasvit exhibition
Between the majestic glass structure, the smoke, the ora of the Palazzo Isimbardi, the installation by Lasvit took visitors through a sensory journey made of light and textures, giving a new meaning to the “smoke and mirrors” say. Or is it?

2. The unveiling of Kartell x Liberty
With Philippe Starck and Claudio Luti in attendance, the evening was a trendy affair with a DJ animating the side walk surrounding the showroom transforming the street into a full on party, while bartenders were skilfully serving cocktails faster than in a club. The Her Highness Chair in Liberty prints, also unveiled that night, was the star of the show and would serve as a brilliant accent chair in any interior.

3. Buccellati Tahiti Picnic basket
Even if you’re not into picnics, you’ll become a fan just to enjoy this piece designed with Patricia Urquoila. It exudes warm and soft Spring and Summer afternoon bliss, and you can almost imagine all the delicacies, smell the scent of fresh grass, and sense the soft blanket under your feet, all of what the best picnics are made off.

4. "muuto apartment"
Perfectly nestled in a courtyard in the Brera district, the muuto flat was a muted presence next to the Boffi showroom and the long awaiting queue. The contemporary pastel take on the traditional flat made it easy on the eye. The lay-out was comfortable and magnificently expressed why the brand has made such a name for itself over the years. We could have moved in, really.

5. Loewe Light exhibition
This exhibition marked the first time the brand showcased a design week installation. In the Palazzo Citterio, situated in the heart of Brera, creative director Jonathan Anderson and all 24 featured artists collaborated on a project incorporating light as their medium. Striking pieces that made for a shining moment for the design brand.

6. Universo Satellite
Marking the 25th Anniversary of SaloneSatellite, the exhibition led the visitor through 25 years of design history through a mix of wall presentations and exhibited pieces of designs. A proper journey into the best of what design has been offering in the last 25 years.

7. Gessi Showroom
The "Haute Couture" Collections are a pink paradise. That would be the best way to describe the Gessi installation. The bathroom area transformed into a jungle made of exotic touches, spa like energy and the sense of water luxury. A collection focused on wellness and technology for the most luxurious showers.

8. Hermès Exhibition
Located at La Pelota, The Topology of Material by Hermès was very anticipated and visitors showed up for it. The vast expanse of the venue commanded visitors' attention with sixteen distinct traditional flooring designs in shades of grays, browns, and reds. A mystical ambiance that was followed by a long dark corridor displaying some of the iconic Hermès design and horse riding themed objects.

9. Laufen
The bathroom brand has established an exhibition concept that moves away from the classic showroom and instead offered a platform where cultural developments can unfold. Minimalistic in the shapes and the colour, it was an artistic moment rather than a dive into the product.

10. Material Bank Exhibition
Taking over Palazzo Bovara, the European branch of the sample company, offered a regal for the senses with different materials displayed through artistic layout of a flat’s typical spaces. At Material Home, verything was an invitation to be touched and experienced: intriguing, innovative or beautiful. Material bank managed to curate an inviting experience for an element

The next edition of Milan Design Week is scheduled from 8 to 13 April 2025.
