Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH), renowned for its independently minded portfolio of boutique properties, has expanded its Considerate Collection, adding 24 properties in the last 12 months*.

Launched in 2021 with 25 hotels, the Considerate Collection distinguishes the most actively sustainable and regenerative luxury hotels in the SLH portfolio.

The collection, which celebrated its fourth anniversary in October 2025, now offers 82 pioneering properties in 41 countries to help travellers narrow their search for greener getaways.

SLH has encouraged travellers to stay small and stay considerate since its inception.

As the brand marks its 35th anniversary in 2025, the newly launched SLH Call-to-Action (CTA) Report shares the brand's sustainability journey to date, spotlights success stories from the expanding Considerate Collection and outlines portfolio-wide commitments and partnerships. The aim of the report? To keep inspiring and challenging SLH hotels and the industry by showcasing positive impact in action.

The report also showcases how the Considerate Collection has evolved, with a brand video sharing the first SLH Considerate Connections Retreat. To mark the fourth anniversary, SLH gathered Considerate Collection hoteliers at Dar Ahlam in Morocco to discuss regenerative hospitality and how small, luxury hotels are best placed to lead the way, industry wide. The video can be watched here.

As the Considerate Collection portfolio expands, criteria for entry remains high. Admitted by merit only, each property must embody the three core pillars of being; environmentally conscious, community minded and cultural custodians, as well as achieve the highest categories of the SLH Sustainability Criteria, developed in alignment with the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) framework and UN's Sustainability Development Goals (SDGs). The result? A selection of diverse, truly sustainable, and often regenerative escapes that prove luxury is compatible with longevity and staying small is considerate.

The growing collection now includes Lilløy Lindenberg in Norway, Quinta Da Comporta – Wellness Boutique Resort in Portugal and The Retreat Koh Chang, in Thailand to name a few. Laguna Coast Resort in Naxos, Greece, newly opened in May 2025 and Namia River Retreat, a wellness sanctuary in Hoi An, Vietnam, which opened in December 2024 are just some of the latest worldwide hotel openings to join the Considerate Collection.

New additions to the SLH brand in 2025, also part of the collection, include rewilding haven Calcot & Spa in the Cotswolds, UK and Casa de Uco Vineyards & Wine Resort, a striking modernist hotel with stunning views over the Andes in Mendoza, Argentina.

Here, SLH shares hero examples of solution-led stories from the Considerate Collection properties from across the globe as shown in the report.

Sustainability in Action – Environmentally Conscious

Rio Perdido, in Costa Rica is a family-owned, carbon positive eco-lodge with forest bungalows offering boutique hideaways hidden in the biodiverse forest of Guanacaste. The property utilises four renewable sources, harnessing geothermal energy from nearby natural hot springs, as well as wind, hydro and solar power, and employs a zero-land movement policy in harmony with the natural surrounds. Over the last 12 years, 30 per cent of the 1,500-acre reserve has been reforested with almost half a million trees.

On the slopes of Arosa in Switzerland, Valsana Hotel Arosa is completely carbon-neutral and plastic- free, heated and cooled by an innovative ice battery. The future-forward temperature converter is combined with a sophisticated heat recovery system, which means the self-sufficient hotel runs without any need for fossil fuels. Offering direct access to majestic Swiss mountains and with sustainability front of mind, contemporary design meets alpine chic during the winter and summer seasons at the hotel.

In Dusseldorf, Germany, Breidenbacher Hof achieved EarthCheck Gold status prioritising regional sourcing despite its city centre location. Giving guests an authentic taste of the surrounding countryside, the hotel offers home-brewed gin and fresh milk from the hotel's own dairy cows. At a nearby farm, the hotel also grows its own vegetables, fruit, and produces a local honey.

Sustainability in Action – Community Minded

Sundy Praia, located on the northern tip of Principe Island sits within a UNESCO biosphere reserve on an archipelago often referred to as ‘Africa's Galapagos', known for its dense wildlife-filled jungle. An invisible by design eco-lodge with 15 tented villas, Sundy Praia prioritises sustainability for people as well as place. With 93 per cent of the team from the islands and a commitment to training Santomeans, the hotel is creating lasting opportunities for the island's sustainable development.

At Arctic Bath in Swedish Lapland, architecturally striking cabins are seamlessly situated in the natural landscape. The hotel is also deeply connected to the local Sámi people with a mission to spread their message of taking care of, and living in harmony with, the natural world. Arctic Bath works closely with Sámi guides for guest experiences and in winter, offers a lávvu tent for traditional meals cooked over a Muurikk, an ancient Scandinavian firepit for a taste of Northern Europe's last remaining wilderness.

Amilla Maldives is a private island paradise leading the way in advancing accessibility in luxury travel. Working with SLH partner IncluCare, the stylish suites have been modified and personally tested by wheelchair users and 100 per cent of front of house staff have undergone inclusive hospitality training. Coupled with their eco-credentials and local ownership, Amilla Maldives is a sustainable champion in the region.

Sustainability in Action – Cultural Custodians

Dar Ahlam, meaning ‘House of Dreams' is located on the doorstep of the Moroccan dessert near Ouarzazate and is committed to catalysing regenerative hospitality in the region. Launching regenerative projects for both local communities and the natural ecosystems they inhabit, the projects such as the Food Lab are locally autonomous, yet seamlessly blended into exceptional guest experiences at Dar Ahlam, where no two days are the same.

At Bhutan Spirit Sanctuary, the luxury hideaway is an important provider of opportunities for young people in the Neyphu Valley, providing jobs and training but also ensuring that familial knowledge continues to be shared between generations and custodians of the land are not lost.

Additional Considerate Collection properties featured in the SLH CTA Report include 137 Pillars Suites Bangkok in Thailand, Casale Panayiotis, Cyprus, Nusfjord Arctic Resort in Norway, Barracuda Hotel & Villas in Brazil, Grove of Narbeth, Wales, UK, Vila Planinka, Slovenia, LOST LINDENBERG in Bali, Indonesia, Gangtey Lodge, Bhutan and Villa Petriolo, Italy.
