Site offers candidates comprehensive job search options and opens door to exciting career opportunities with the hotel giant as it powers ahead with aggressive expansion

Starwood Hotels & Resorts announces it now offers potential candidates looking for exciting careers with the group a one-stop resource: www.starwood.jobs. This new site allows candidates to tailor their job search according to their requirements (geographical location, brand preferences, etc.) and at the same time allows for greater effectiveness and efficiency in the recruitment process. The newly launched site is also one of the most robust recruitment related websites in the industry, and offers potential candidates access to comprehensive search options for career opportunities, including the ability to create "JobAlert Profiles", enabling them to be notified when their dream job or dream locations become available.

“We are delighted to introduce this fabulous site that offers all the information and resources anyone will need when looking for career opportunities. www.Starwood.jobs further illustrates the importance we place on human resources and helps us match the candidates to the right career opportunity. This tool provides a "branded" experience for job seekers, provides the most user friendly tool in the industry for both potential candidates and Starwood associates, and improves the effectiveness by which we manage and select job candidates,” commented Claudia Albala’a, Vice President for Human Resources, Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Asia Pacific.

“Starwood Hotels & Resorts Asia Pacific is growing at an unprecedented rate and staffing is our number one priority. We have developed proactive action plans and introduced various programs to groom internal and external candidates to meet our growing staffing needs, from rank and file to management level positions. Alongside these plans, www.Starwood.jobs will be a great and innovative resource in our recruitment drive as we grow our footprint in this dynamic region,” added Albala’a.

Key features of www.starwood.jobs include:
1. The electronic recruitment site allows candidates to tailor the job search according to their profile (brand preference, location and language capabilities, etc.). Candidates can also create job alerts so they will be notified when a position matching their profile is available.
2. Comprehensive search options (by location, job function, organization type, job level, etc. ).
3. Automated application review process, thus reducing time and energy involved with manual review of applications.
4. Access to a larger database of candidates, allowing for a better fit of candidates to the positions, thus reducing turnover.
5. Information on Starwood Hotels & Resorts’ portfolio of brands, including Westin, Sheraton, Le Meridien, St. Regis, The Luxury Collection, aloft, W Hotels, Four Points by Sheraton
6. Information on career paths and the Starwood’s growth plans

Starwood currently operates more than 140 hotels in Asia Pacific, with more than 80 hotels and resorts under development soon to fly Starwood’s brand flags including Westin, Sheraton, W, St. Regis, The Luxury Collection, Four Points by Sheraton, Le Méridien and aloft. Fueling Starwood’s growth in the region is its impressive pace in China, driven by a surge in development of Starwood’s select service brands and the increased exposure of the company’s upper upscale and luxury brands in the Asia Pacific region.

Of the hotels under development in Asia Pacific, more than half are in China, where Starwood expects to double its portfolio by 2011. The Sheraton and Four Points by Sheraton brands lead the growth in this region. In addition to the 36 hotels Starwood currently operates in China, Starwood has more than 40 new properties opening soon. The company is also experiencing significant growth in India. Building on its current portfolio of 20 properties in India, Starwood has 10 more under development in vibrant technology hubs such as Hyderabad, Pune, Chennai and Bangalore. Westin and Aloft are particularly hot in India right now. In the past few months, Westin signed deals for five new properties, and Aloft executed deals for three new properties.

Elsewhere in Asia-Pacific, Starwood’s brands are growing their footprint in Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, Macau, Japan and New Zealand. In Thailand alone, Starwood will debut 11 new hotels in the next three years, including three Le Meridien hotels in Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai coming onboard this year. In Malaysia, the Luxury Collection brand is also reinvigorated upon the completion of a USD12 million renovation of Hotel Imperial Kuala Lumpur this year which included a major facelift of its restaurants and guestrooms.
