(NYSE: HOT) announces the re-opening of Sheraton Fiji Resort, following the successful completion of an extensive US$22 million renovation that positions the resort as a top choice in the family and conference market in Fiji. Located on Denauru Island, Sheraton Fiji Resort features fully renovated guest rooms, an interactive lobby space, new dining concepts and a stunning, lagoon-style pool.

The re-opening of Sheraton Fiji Resort also underscores the aggressive growth and revitalization of the brand’s portfolio of world-class resorts in dynamic destinations across the globe. Sheraton currently offers more than 16 resorts in Asia Pacific, in locations such as Japan, China, Indonesia, Guam and Australia. There are also Sheraton resorts under development in markets including Taiwan, India and Spain.

Creating a stunning new look for Sheraton Fiji Resort, the six-month refurbishment project resulted in significant upgrades to guest accommodations, restaurants and bars, as well as the introduction of new recreational facilities. The centrepiece of the resort is the nearly 13,000 square-foot, lagoon style swimming pool developed by Scape Design Associates. This spectacular new pool features a number of underwater day seats and overwater hammocks and is divided into three sections, including a dedicated family-friendly area and quiet zone.

“As a result of this very successful refurbishment project managed by Herberts Construction, we expect Sheraton Fiji Resort to emerge as a leader in the family, conference and incentive markets, appealing to travelers with its engaging, interactive atmosphere, superior service and signature amenities,” said Shane Cunning, Managing Director of Sheraton and Westin Resorts Denarau Island, Fiji.

Designed by Joseph Pang Design Consultants, the revitalized guest accommodations reflect the essence of Pacific style while emphasizing guest comfort. Each room features the Sheraton Sweet Sleeper bed, high-speed Internet and innovative lighting. Rooms open onto a private balconies or patios, creating a seamless transition to the tropical paradise right outside.

The hotel’s renovated lobby space features the Link@Sheraton, the perfect spot to network with fellow travelers and stay connected with loved ones. This signature communications hub offers a comfortable setting to catch up on emails using complimentary Internet access, enjoy a board game, watch TV or relax with a good book.

The resort has also launched some exciting new dining concepts including Feast, a vibrant new buffet restaurant featuring culinary delights from around the world, Flying Fish seafood restaurant and Pantry – a grab and go style deli. The leading fine-dining restaurant, Ports O’Call has also received a fresh, new look, while Chime, the resort’s new lounge bar, is the perfect place to relax with a tropical cocktail.
