Preferred Hotel Group's Elite Collection of Intimate Hotels and Resorts

Preferred Boutique, the premier brand for intimate hotels and resorts, is pleased to announce its first and newest member in Cambodia - The Sothea. At the heart of the Preferred Boutique experience is inspiration, that elusive characteristic that sifts the extraordinary from the ordinary. The four Preferred Boutique categories - Classic, Design, Adventure and Resort - encompass eclectic properties from palaces to tent camps, from hip urban hotels to private islands. The Sothea is part of the Resort category.

The 39 all-suite estate is a romantic and relaxing hideaway in the heart of Siem Reap, beside the Cambodian Cultural Village and 15 minutes from the Angkor temple compound. Nestled amidst tranquil gardens and softly flowing waterways, it is a contemporary hotel with hints of Khmer artisanship infused in the architecture and interior design. Opened on Valentine's Day on February 14 by a respected local entrepreneur, it is built as a tribute to his wife, Madam Sothea for her 50th birthday.

Luxurious in design and service, The Sothea harmoniously blends water features, where water symbolizes the woman; and manicured landscaping, where the soil symbolizes the man, throughout the resort. The Sothea is divided into two zones: Recreation Zone which houses the spa and restaurants and the Rest Zone where the suites are exclusively tucked away. There are two restaurants and a cigar and wine bar offering traditional Khmer cuisine as well as international fare. Recreational facilities include an outdoor salt swimming pool and a spa offering Khmer massage and a variety of beauty treatments.

All beautifully designed suites offer either a balcony overlooking the courtyard pool or a terrace by the landscaped pond. Each guest can indulge in full butler service where a dedicated butler will be assigned from arrival at the airport, to unpacking, organizing tours and meals, to departure. In addition, there are also a host of complimentary services such as wireless Internet access, breakfast that can be packed in a picnic box, daily replenished mini-bar, laundry service, and a library stocked with movies and books.

"The Sothea personifies the quintessential luxury boutique property where intimate service is key," says Lynne Ireland, Managing Director - Preferred Boutique.

Mark Simmons, Managing Director - Asia, Preferred Hotel Group, adds,"The Sothea will cater to upscale leisure travelers in search of a unique cultural experience. Siem Reap is an increasingly important destination for Preferred Hotel Group as we can now offer great options to our global leisure, corporate and MICE partners with The Sothea and Angkor Palace Resort & Spa, a member of Summit Hotels & Resorts™, in one city."

Sarah Moya, General Manager of The Sothea comments on the partnership, "The Sothea is very pleased to be opening under the Preferred Boutique brand. As we aim for the luxury market amidst a highly touristic but competitive destination like Siem Reap, The Sothea recognized the need to affiliate itself with a well-respected hospitality partner. Since this partnership was established, several relevant windows of business opportunities were opened and we truly look forward to hopefully, more years of mutually beneficial and successful cooperation."
