The BDRC Asia Pacific Hotel Business Guest Survey has ranked Hilton
Hotels as the number one hotel brand in Australia ahead of Hyatt and Sheraton. The annual
independent survey launched in 2003 surveys 1434 business guests throughout Australia and the
Asia Pacific region.
As well as topping the primary index, the Hilton Honors program scored first place on ‘Most
Recognized Loyalty Program’, and Hilton.com was voted ‘Most Visited Website’.
For Australian travellers, hotel branding plays an important role in their selection process, with
over 4 in 5 stating that the hotel brand name has a ‘great deal’ or ‘fair amount’ of influence on
their choice of hotel.
Andrew Flack, Director of Business Development for Hilton Australia, said, “The number one
result is testament to the last five years of significant Hilton investment in the region. This has
delivered brand new Hiltons in Auckland, Melbourne Airport and Sydney, as well as extensive
refurbishments in Perth, Adelaide, Brisbane and Cairns.
2006 will see the first phase of the new Hilton in Fiji, and new properties in Melbourne and
Wellington are in development for 2008. In 2005 Hilton International spent more development
money in Australia than any other country in the world, due mainly to the new Hilton Sydney.”
