March 2006- Rendezvous Hotels International Pte Limited trading as Rendezvous Hotels & Resorts
International (“Rendezvous”), a subsidiary of the Singapore listed public company, The Straits Trading Company Limited, currently operates 11 hotels in the Asia-Pacific region. It is in negotiations on a number of other properties that fit well with the company’s expansion plans in China, Australia and the Asia Pacific region. The prototype of a typical
Rendezvous hotel is 200 rooms plus, 4 star corporate hotels in gateway cities throughout the region and upscale
resorts offering leisure and recreational facilities in key resort locations throughout the region. Rendezvous assumed management of Rendezvous Hotel, Melbourne and Rendezvous Reef Resort, Port Douglas; the latest additions to the Rendezvous group on 8th December 2005.
Rendezvous CEO, Mr Alan Featherby, says, “Rendezvous is extremely pleased to have added both these very
different properties, each with exciting potential, to its group in Australia. We are very confident that under Rendezvous’ guidance Rendezvous Hotel, Melbourne and Rendezvous Reef Resort, Port Douglas will contribute strong growth and profitability to the group in their respective markets; in particular, corporate business for Melbourne and the domestic
family market in Port Douglas.”
I n other developments during 2005, Rendezvous Hotels & Resorts International completed its 12 month re-branding
project to better reflect the organisation’s strong positioning and growth strategies.
These initiatives comprised the appointment of a new advertising agency, Coo’ee Brisbane; a stronger, bolder, newlook logo and collateral design to standout in the market-place; all new photography, images and digital footage for each of the hotels and the launch of a benefits programme, Experience More. The recently launched, state-of-the-art website www.rendezvoushotels.com also reflects the modern new look and offers consumers a simple, user-friendly “OneScreen” booking engine. The site also caters to agents, wholesalers and media wholesalers and media with easy
access to best available rates, current property news and downloadable high-resolution images. The brand and its
hotels were also the recipients of several prestigious awards:
· Rendezvous Hotels & Resorts International was accorded a Singapore Promising Brand Award (SPBA)
Rendezvous is the only hotel brand to receive this distinction among 36 winning organisations, which span a
wide spectrum of trade sectors and industries. The SPBA recognises enterprises that have shown outstanding
performance in the communication of their brands. Rendezvous is one of eight first-time-entry winners from
more than 150 nominations.
· The Rendezvous Merry Hotel Shanghai was awarded the Special Contribution Award for the 2005
Shanghai Tourism Festival, the only International hotel in the Jing An district to win this award.
· Rendezvous Hotel, Brisbane and Rendezvous Stafford Hotel, Sydney were both finalists in the QLD and
NSW State Tourism Awards 2005, respectively.
New Hotels and Resorts 2005-06:
Built in 1913 as the Commercial Travellers Club, the historic 338 room Rendezvous Hotel, Melbourne (formerly the
Duxton Hotel) is a heritage-listed building located on Flinders Street which has been meticulously restored to its original splendour. The Commercial Travellers Club held a significant place in Australia's history being home for travelling politicians and dignitaries. The hotel is a significant player in the four star plus market and a recognised high quality corporate hotel in Melbourne.
