Marriott International, Inc. (NYSE:MAR) today announced that The Park Hotel in Charlotte, N.C., has become the Charlotte Marriott SouthPark. Located at 2200 Rexford Road, in the upscale SouthPark district, the four diamond hotel offers 192 guestrooms, including two presidential suites and six executive suites. South Park Real Estate, L.L.C., a subsidiary of JWM Family Enterprises, L.P., a Bethesda, Md. based private investment group, recently acquired the property from the Bissell Companies of Charlotte, N.C. Marriott Hotels & Resorts will operate the hotel under a long term management agreement.

All guestrooms will feature Marriott's new, more luxurious bedding with plusher mattresses, softer sheets and more pillows. Replacing the traditional hotel bedspread is a down comforter nestled inside sheeted duvets, which will be freshly laundered for each new guest. The stylized bedding features 300- thread-count, cotton-rich, white top and fitted bottom sheets and is accented with euro shams, a decorative bed scarf and bolster. Other in-room amenities will include a workspace with ergonomic desk and chair, high-speed Internet access, telephone with data port and speaker phone, coffee maker, iron with ironing board, and cable TV with premium channels.
The Charlotte Marriott SouthPark is ideal for business and social occasions, offering 11,300 square feet of meeting space, including the 3,200 square-foot Park Pavilion, the 2,700 square-foot Morrison Ballroom and the 2,509 square-foot Terrace Ballroom. The Rexford Ballroom and Hospitality Suite, and six additional meeting rooms are also available. Technological capabilities include high-speed Internet access in all meeting rooms and comprehensive audiovisual facilities. A 24-hour onsite business center is also available to meet guests' needs.
As one of the "Top 50 Cities that Sizzle," according to Nation's Restaurant News, Charlotte offers numerous dining options. The hotel's onsite restaurant, Smoky's Grill and Martini Bar, is a popular gathering place for hotel guests and local residents alike. Serving southern regional cuisine, steak and chops are specialties, with roasted lamb chops a signature favorite. Thanks to 24-hour in-room dining, guests may also enjoy selections from the restaurant's menu in the comfort of their own room.
The Charlotte Marriott SouthPark is on the doorstep of the premier retail destination in the Carolinas. The nearby SouthPark mall features top luxury retailers, including Nordstrom, Burberry, Coach, Louis Vuitton, and the region's first Neiman Marcus will open fall 2006. Other major area attractions nearby include, Bank of America Stadium, Carowinds Theme Park and the new Bobcats Arena.
