Chef Chad Horvath (right), Executive Sous Chef of Chateau Grille at Chateau on the Lake Resort & Spa in Branson, recently captured the “Chef of the Fest” award at the Missouri Food & Wine Festival. Over the two days of the festival, demonstrations by Missouri chefs (including Chef Horvath) were presented to festival goers every hour on the hour. After polling attendees and consulting with organizers, Chef Horvath was selected “Chef of the Fest.” In presenting the trophy, Bob Nichols (left), Managing Member of Associated Artists, producers of the festival, said that Chef Horvath’s “presentation and creative style of cooking was inspiring and memorable.”

During the festival, which was conducted at Chateau on the Lake Resort & Spa in April, Chef Horvath prepared “Prosciutto & Melon,” which included Vanilla Ice Cream, Cantaloupe & Honeydew Caviar, Candied Prosciutto, and Basil Espuma. He also prepared Coconut Crusted Mahi Mahi with Steamed Calrose Rice, Orange Chili Crab Broth and Julienne Vegetables.

The Missouri Food & Wine Festival was a celebration of the exceptional wines produced in Missouri, as well as outstanding food experiences found in Branson and around the state. The event featured tastings of wines from more than a dozen Missouri wineries. Exhibitors also included artisan cheese makers, chocolatiers, restaurants, and gourmet food companies. The event also featured an art show (targeted at “food” and “wine”), art contest and live auction sponsored by the Branson Arts Council, as well as an array of educational seminars and demonstrations.
