Race, then relax, with this marathon of a deal

The Kauai Marathon returns to sunny Poipu on Sunday, September 5, 2010 --Labor Day Weekend-- and Outrigger Kiahuna Plantation is again offering great room rates for its athletic guests and spectators. With rates starting at just $169 per night for a one-bedroom condominium, participants and friends alike will be sprinting to reserve their spacious condo unit.

“The fully-furnished condominium units at Outrigger Kiahuna Plantation provide runners with all of the space and comforts of home, helping them gear up for the big day,” said Dale Verkaaik, general manager of Outrigger Kiahuna Plantation. “Additionally, with the start and finish lines located right in front of the property, we’re an ideal location for cheering friends and family.”

Outrigger Kiahuna Plantation’s fully-equipped kitchens are perfect for preparing pre and post-race meals and on-site laundry facilities enable guests to pack less, and avoid paying extra luggage fees. Offering one- and two- bedroom condominiums, the spacious units allow groups of all sizes to stay together comfortably and save money over multiple hotel rooms. Larger units can sleep up to six people; the roomy living areas and separate bedrooms allow each guest a feeling of space and freedom.

Outrigger Kiahuna Plantation occupies a lovely beachfront setting in Poipu on the sunniest side of the island. This oasis by the sea is picture perfect with quaint, low-rise wooden condominiums reminiscent of Hawaii’s 19th-century plantation past. Swaying palms, shady monkeypod trees, and delicate plumeria blossoms accent the manicured lawns that carpet the 30-acre setting. Conveniently located across the street from the shops and restaurants of Poipu Shopping Village, and just a few minutes from historic Koloa Town, guests can also explore more of Kauai with a scenic drive west to Waimea or east to Lihue, the Wailua River, Kapaa Town, and Hanalei on the north shore.

The Kauai Marathon and Half Marathon are scheduled for September 5, 2010. Participants for both distances will run the first 11 miles together through a winding tour of lush Kauai, then split for the home stretch or another scenic loop. The course follows the contour of the beautiful coastline with picturesque beaches, rugged volcanic peaks and green tropical rain forests. Upon their return to Poipu Beach, runners for the 13 and 26 mile race will receive a rousing island welcome. Well-respected ultra-marathon runner Dean Karnazes, returns as the event host and Bart Yasso, editor of “Runner’s World,” is the event’s official running ambassador.

Listed rates for Outrigger Kiahuna Plantation are for one-bedroom garden view units, per room, per night and taxes are not included. The rates and specials cannot be combined with other offers and are subject to availability and change. Rates may not be used for group bookings without prior authorization from Outrigger and other restrictions may apply. Deposit and cancellation policies also apply.
