After two years of round the clock construction, Thunder Valley Casino Resort's hotel, spa, pool, bars and expanded casino opened today with a ribbon cutting ceremony and guided tours of new facility. Over 500 people attended the ceremony under the porte-cochere of the new hotel with the ornate lobby forming the backdrop of the event.
David Keyser Chairman of the United Auburn Indian Community Tribal Council and Thunder Valley Casino Resort General Manager C.J. Graham both spoke at the event along with Assemblyman Ted Gaines, Lincoln Chamber President Bob Romness and Mayors Tom Cosgrove of Lincoln, Gina Garbolino of Roseville and Scott Yuill of Rocklin.
"Thunder Valley Casino Resort has come a long way since first opening in 2003," said Keyser. "It is a dream come true to look up and see the new hotel. Guests have been asking for a hotel for years, but I am pleased to finally say that they will not have to ask any longer. This is the beginning of a new chapter for Thunder Valley, the United Auburn Indian Community and Placer County."
The ribbon cutting event also included tribal dancers that welcomed the new building in traditional fashion.
"This is an incredible facility on par with anything you will find in Las Vegas or Lake Tahoe," said Graham. "It is truly a destination resort and the special attention to detail will attract people from all over the state and country to Placer County. This will be a summer of many firsts for Thunder Valley Casino Resort and we look forward to providing an experience unlike anything Northern California has to offer."
The grand opening festivities will continue through the weekend as Thunder Valley Casino Resort kicks off a summer concert series that will include popular acts such as Adam Lambert, Lionel Richie, Smokey Robinson among others.
Thunder Valley Casino Resort was opened by the United Auburn Indian Community in June 2003. The newly remodeled and expanded entertainment, dining and hotel resort is Northern California's first casino offering all the elements of real Las Vegas-style gaming: service, cuisine and entertainment in an outstanding facility.
Located 30 miles east of Sacramento, Thunder Valley Casino Resort offers 200,000 square feet of gaming space including over 3,000 slot and video machines, 125 table games and a live poker room with space for 160 players. There are 14 restaurants and bars highlighted by the new High Steaks Steakhouse; Koi Palace; a 500-seat Feast Around The World Buffet and Thunder Cafe as well as Mingle Bar, Falls Bar, Thunder Bar and High Steaks Bar. Also on property is a new 3,700-space parking structure that leads directly into the casino and hotel.
The recent expansion of Thunder Valley Casino Resort includes a new luxury, 17-story hotel with 297 rooms including 40 suites. Inside the hotel is a 10,000 square-foot banquet and entertainment hall, meeting rooms, bars and a gift shop. The hotel has an expansive pool that includes private cabanas and Coconut, a poolside bar. The Spa at Thunder Valley will feature a wide variety of treatments including the exclusive 24-carat gold leaf facial. The expansion was completed in June 2010.
