InterContinental Hotels Group Announces Expansion of Crowne Plaza Portfolio in Virginia

InterContinental Hotels Group announced today the opening of its latest Crowne Plaza hotel in Herndon, Va. (US), just two miles from Washington Dulles International Airport and twenty-two miles from Washington, D.C.

Located at the entrance to the historic town of Herndon, the 328-room Crowne Plaza-Dulles Airport underwent a $7 million renovation prior to opening. The hotel offers contemporary décor with warm woods and chrome accents throughout the guestrooms and lobby. All guest bathrooms include granite counters and tile surround tub/showers. There are plans to open a Houlihan’s restaurant at the hotel this June, where guests can enjoy casual dining for breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as a lively bar and happy hour.


Consistent with the Crowne Plaza brand, the hotel offers a comprehensive meetings package to ensure a seamless planning process and exceptional meeting experience consisting of three key components: a Two-Hour Response Guarantee, Crowne Meetings Director and a Meetings Daily Debrief. With 7,434-sq. ft. of meeting space, the Crowne Plaza-Dulles Airport provides the perfect venue for business meetings and social functions.

Guest room amenities include: complimentary high-speed Internet access, dual-line dataport phones with voice mail, coffee maker, hair dryer, refrigerator, iron and ironing board. The hotel features a Presidential Suite, as well as ten Business Parlors, which include the same amenities as the hotel’s club level rooms. The Crowne Plaza-Dulles Airport offers a 24-hour state-of-the-art fitness center, indoor pool with whirlpool, 24-hour business center with complimentary high-speed Internet access, 24-hour front desk, gift shop, ATM and complimentary shuttle service to Dulles International Airport and local office parks located within a four mile radius.


The hotel features the newly introduced Crowne Plaza Sleep Advantage, which is available at all Crowne Plaza hotels in the Americas region. The Sleep Advantage encompasses the entire sleep experience, from training staff on how to create and maintain a restful environment to providing innovative products and services. Program components include new bedding, guaranteed wake-up calls, designated quiet zones, night lights, sleep CDs, sleep tips and amenities such as eye masks, ear plugs and lavender spray.


The hotel is a short drive away from Washington, D.C. attractions, as well as the Smithsonian National Air & Space Museum’s Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center, Tyson’s Corner Shopping Center and the Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts.
