There's no better interview process than working with someone, a fact that both The Istanbul EDITION and Banu Kirmaz well know. After working for three years at The Istanbul EDITION as Director of Finance and Human Resources, Ms. Kirmaz made the transition to become the property's General Manager in May 2013.
Ms. Kirmaz is no stranger to the hospitality industry or the Marriott brands, for that matter. While she devoted the first 10 years of her career to banking, she joined The Ritz-Carlton, Istanbul in 2003 as Director of Finance after a headhunter suggested she apply for the job.
The new position turned out to be Ms. Kirmaz's true calling. She worked her way up to become the Area Director of Finance for The Ritz-Carlton before she heard about a new brand that was about to be launched by Marriott. Dubbed "EDITION," the concept centered on luxury boutique hotels designed by Ian Schrager and which embodied an electric mix of energy, style and unbeatable location. With the support of her colleagues and supervisors, Ms. Kirmaz volunteered to become part of the initial team at The Istanbul EDITION.
Now, as the property's General Manager, Ms. Kirmaz has the opportunity to oversee one of the most dynamic and luxurious boutique hotels in Istanbul.
