Surrounded by pristine Alpine peaks and home to crystal-clear waters which are a magnet for swimmers and sailors alike, the Tegernsee region has its own special charm. With its enviable location in the waterside town of Rottach-Egern, Hotel Bachmair Weissach is the perfect base from which to explore the beauty of the Bavarian lakes. And thanks to the introduction of the hotel’s new Mizu Onsen Spa, the first Japanese inspired hotel spa in Germany, nature lovers and aesthetes alike can now find spiritual enlightenment even closer to home www.designhotels.com/hotel-bachmair-weissach

The interiors of Mizu Onsen Spa are inspired by Japanese minimalism, defined by clean lines, a neutral color palette and subtle lighting. Locally-sourced natural materials and warm cedar wood accents complete the aesthetic, which has been designed to ensure minimal distraction, allowing guests to fully connect with their senses. In the "Super Silent Room", for example, visitors are able to enjoy absolute silence and therefore have the time and peace required for meditation and self-reflection.

Embodying a spiritual marriage between East and West, Mizu Onsen Spa seamlessly combines cultural influences from Japan with Lake Tegernsee traditions, resulting in a uniquely regional spin on Japanese bathing culture. In addition to the traditional Onsen baths, in which the water temperature ranges from 2° - 42° Celsius, guests can embrace water therapy in all its forms including relaxing by the babbling brook that runs through the hotel’s garden. The inter-cultural ethos also extends to the individual treatments, which incorporate products from the Japanese brand Sensai, organic skin care from Susanne Kaufmann and natural cosmetics from local producers Gertrud Gruber. Two of the eight treatment rooms are exclusively reserved for Japanese treatments, such as "Ishi" with hot stones.
