Barceló Hotels & Resorts today announced the appointment of James Alfaro to Director of Meetings & Incentives for the Western Region and Canada as the Company continues to expand its U.S. based meetings and incentives sales team. Mr. Alfaro joins Barceló Hotels & Resorts from Alfa Corporation where he was the Regional Director of Business Development for the Western Region. He has also held group sales management positions with the Crowne Plaza Los Cabos, Mexico, the Hilton Los Cabos Beach and Golf Resort, as well as Sol Melia Hotels & Resorts.

“Jim brings in depth knowledge of the meetings and incentive market for Mexico and the Caribbean,” said Vicki Denfeld, Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing for Barceló Crestline Corporation. “Jim’s experience is invaluable to Barceló as we enhance both our brand awareness in the western U.S. markets and add new premium Barceló resorts in key destinations throughout Mexico, the Caribbean and Latin America,” added Denfeld.

Mr. Alfaro holds a B.A. in Business Administration from the University of the Americas, Mexico. He has numerous professional designations and has been an active member of SITE, MPI and ASAE. He can be reached at jim.alfaro@barcelocrestline.com or j.alfaro@barcelo.com.

Mr. Alfaro joins Linda Finley, Director of Meetings & Incentives for the South and South Central regions, and Janet Ziegler, Director of Meetings & Incentives for the mid-Atlantic region. Presently Barceló Hotels & Resorts has 32 all-inclusive resorts and more than 10,000 guestrooms throughout Mexico, the Caribbean and Latin America and is poised for additional brand expansion.

The expansion of the group sales and meeting support team is also part of the Company’s ongoing effort to expand its incentive and meeting services. Last year the company introduced MeetBarceló, a comprehensive meeting services program that enables meeting planners to select a hotel and book a complete function within 48 hours.

Recently Barceló added two hotels in Cancun to its Mexico portfolio, The Barceló Tucancun Beach Hotel, and The Barceló Costa Cancun. In addition, the company added the Barceló La Jolla de Mismaloya Hotel in Puerto Vallarta and The Barceló Karmina Palace Hotel in Manzanillo. The Company has announced construction on a fifth hotel at its popular Barceló Maya Beach Resort. In the Dominican Republic, the company added The Barceló Premium Punta Cana Resort located on Arena Gorda Beach.
