Hyatt Regency Mission Bay Spa and Marina is pleased to announce the unveiling of a multi-million dollar renovation, including a complete interior revitalization of the property’s 438 guestrooms, Blue Marble Spa, pool deck, two dining outlets and nearly 16,000 square feet of meeting space. Located on Mission Bay, the property’s refresh elevates the guest experience with quiet sophistication and high-end comfort. The coastal chic design aesthetic is a nod to Southern California, well-known for its sunny year-round weather, and includes a maritime color palette plus, nautical aesthetic details. The overall interior effect creates a seamless, “outdoors in,” sense of place and environment. The property is owned by Chesapeake Lodging Trust, a Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT).

“We are excited to share a refreshed Hyatt Regency Mission Bay Spa and Marina,”said hotel general manager Chad Eding. “The property and the destination itself have a rich seafaring history, which is reflected intrinsically throughout the redesign. Our new rooms offer modern touches, while still maintaining the hotel’s classic character. We look forward to this new chapter for the hotel and look forward to exceeding our guests’ expectations with enthusiasm and pride.”

The new design, led by Design Directions International, draws inspiration from the hotel’s location on the celebrated Mission Bay. Guestrooms showcase a contemporary take with comfortable and functional furnishings to accommodate both business and leisure guests. Renovated guestrooms feature new wall coverings, including an accent shiplap wall, carpeting and balcony furniture. Nautical-themed decorative touches found in the guestroom’s new lamps and mirrors complement the exclusive art work, depicting images of boating and coastal scenes.

The renovated foyers, halls and elevator lobbies on each floor received new wall coverings and carpeting that reflect the maritime palette found throughout the guestrooms and public spaces. Cool pacific blues, plus touches of washed greys and ivories foster a sense of place based on the hotel’s waterfront location.

Meeting space at Hyatt Regency Mission Bay Spa and Marina has expanded with the inclusion of Crow’s Nest, a new 555 square-foot space that is located above the lobby. Additionally, the hotel’s Bayview and Mission Ballrooms, both featuring natural light, received new carpet, wallcoverings and banquet chairs. A total remodel of the hotel’s meeting area bathrooms, round out event facility upgrades.

Other notable property enhancements include the total renovation of the hotel’s lobby, business center, and front and concierge desks. New lobby lounge seating incorporates fireplaces for chilly mornings and evenings, comfortable couches, and both upholstered and leather seating for comfort and ease.
Pelican’s on the Bay, formally SWIM Bar & Lounge, is now open and located at the hotel’s pool deck, with both al fresco and covered seating. Serving local craft beer and a new menu by the hotel’s executive chef Laura de Martin Fabbro, guests can enjoy lite fare, salads, sandwiches, hamburgers and grilled local seafood specialties.

The award-winning Blue Marble Spa offers guests a new lounge and seating area to enjoy before or after an eco-conscious treatment. Decorated in cool tones of blue, grey and white, the redone space provides an immediate sense of calm. Seashells, locally sourced flowers and plants, and mood lighting enhance the space.
