Interstate Hotels & Resorts (NYSE: IHR), one of the nation's largest independent hotel management companies, today announced that Denis S. McCarthy has been promoted to chief accounting officer. He previously served as senior vice president, corporate controller. In his new position, McCarthy will be responsible for all of the company's corporate accounting, financial reporting and tax functions. He will continue to report to Bruce Riggins, Interstate's chief financial officer.

A 10-year hotel industry veteran, McCarthy joined Interstate in 2004 from Host Hotels Corporation, formerly Host Marriott, where he served in numerous positions, his final being the director of financial reporting. While at Host, he worked on the public filings with the SEC and was part of the steering committee to implement Sarbanes Oxley compliance. He also worked on multiple transactions including the company's reorganization to a REIT, debt offerings, and preferred and common equity offerings as well as hotel acquisitions and dispositions. Prior to those positions, McCarthy, a CPA, was an auditor for the public accounting firm of PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLC, formally Coopers & Lybrand.

"Denis brings more than a decade of public company and public accounting experience and a proven track record of successful analysis and financial reporting, as well as strong leadership skills," said Bruce Riggins, CFO. "After joining Interstate in 2004 as a VP, corporate controller, Denis was quickly promoted to SVP in recognition of his significant contribution to our senior management team. This promotion affirms his continuing record of achievement."

McCarthy earned both his bachelor's and master's degrees from West Virginia University, and his Certified Public Accountant license in the state of Virginia. He is a member of the Virginia chapter of AICPA, the Special Forces Association, and DARE Parachute Team. He also has served in the U.S. Army and National Guard for the past 19 years.

As of March 31, 2007, Interstate Hotels & Resorts operated 207 hospitality properties with more than 47,000 rooms in 36 states, the District of Columbia, Belgium, Canada, and Russia.
