Gulfport Beachfront Hotel Nears Completion of $9.6 Million Conversion to Courtyard by Marriott

The Gulfport Beachfront Hotel is on schedule to meet its March 1, 2008 opening date when it will become the Courtyard by Marriott. The initial plans for the $9.6 million conversion began back in 2005. The hotel - owned and managed by Lane Hospitality - was to begin its Courtyard conversion on August 28, 2005, the day before Hurricane Katrina reached land.

"I am very proud to be a part of this conversion and to bring Courtyard by Marriott to the City of Gulfport," said Peter Magee, General Manager of the Gulfport Beachfront Hotel. "As we rebuild, we are excited to see just how far the hotel has come, and about the upscale experience that it will provide."

Gulfport's new Courtyard by Marriott will offer 148 newly renovated guestrooms and six suites. All accommodations will feature new furniture and desk with ergonomic chair, along with Marriott's Bedding Package with crisp white triple sheeting and abundance of pillows. The upscale full-service hotel experience will also include a new regional restaurant concept and repositioned bar; 6,000-plus square feet of flexible meeting and ballroom space; a new executive boardroom and business center for guests to conduct business meetings with the latest technology, including complimentary high speed internet access throughout, and a new 1,400 square foot fitness center with the latest in cardio equipment.
