Morgans Hotel Group Appoints Scott Williams as Chief Marketing Officer

Starwood Leadership Team Veteran to Lead Marketing and Branding at MHG

Morgans Hotel Group Co. (NASDAQ: MHGC) ("MHG") today named Scott Williams Chief Marketing Officer, effective immediately. In this capacity, Williams will oversee and architect MHG's marketing and brand strategy and will report directly to Ed Scheetz, MHG's President and Chief Executive Officer. Williams joins MHG from Starwood Hotels, where he served as the Chief Creative Officer, SVP Advertising since 1999.

As Chief Creative Officer, SVP Advertising of Starwood, Williams set the company's global visual and verbal communications strategy and oversaw all of Starwood's advertising, marketing and creative products. Williams directed the in-house Creative Services Group staffed with 40 marketers and designers, and was responsible for $50 million in advertising activity for Starwood's portfolio of lodging brands that include Shearton, Westin, St. Regis, Luxury Collection, Four Points and W Hotels. Under his leadership, Starwood has developed and launched award-winning advertising campaigns that increased guest satisfaction and raised consumer awareness.

Prior to his tenure at Starwood, Williams served as Vice President of Programming and Creative Director for CBS Eye on People, Vice President Creative Services at ESPN Classic Sports Network and, from 1991 to 1995, Williams was responsible for both the development and production of award-winning programming and advertising at HBO.

Williams has received a number of awards including seven Adrian Awards, the Society for Environmental Graphic Design Honor Award and the Starwood Global Leadership Award. Williams currently serves as board President of the Red Ribbon Foundation for AIDS and serves on the board of the Stamford Center for the Arts. Williams received a B.A. in Theatre from the University of Washington, holds an M.F.A. from the American Conservatory Theater, and completed the General Manager Program at Harvard Business School in 2002.
