A new riverside retreat has arrived in Canary Wharf: the East River Spa, a destination spa just minutes from Central London. Located in the stunning new Radisson Edwardian New Providence Wharf, the tranquil space makes the most of its waterside location, offering breathtaking views of the River Thames.

Perhaps the most surprising thing about the East River is the sheer scale of the spa area and the adjoining gym. Rather than being tucked away in a small basement, they are given an exclusive space across a whole floor. Natural daylight floods the gym, whilst in the spa it falls in soft, gentle shafts, dappled and muted by bead curtains.

Embracing a thoroughly modern approach to wellbeing, the focus at East River Spa is on restoring vitality and energy in indulgent contemporary surroundings. Only the most exclusive and well respected brands are on offer, with a wide variety of treatments for the face and body ranging from express “pick me ups” to full residential packages.

On booking treatments, guests will be invited to arrive an hour early to chill out and unwind in the steam and sauna areas. The steam room releases cleansing essential oils and the sauna is filled with the aroma of fresh herbs, designed to prepare the body and mind for treatments.

Signature treatments include the Algotherm Soap Massage, using products based on the minerals and essential amino acids of marine extracts and Spirulina, and the Hot Stone Massage, a perennial favourite by Pervonia.

Exclusive to the East River spa is the launch of a new range of treatments using Kimia, a brand new product range to hit the UK. Especially designed for the East River spa, Kimia treatments use products made from the finest raw materials, including witch hazel and rose extract, sourced from around the world. Victoria Beckham, Donna Air and Geri Halliwell are all fans of the product range, which is set to take London by storm.

For time-poor city workers who are in desperate need of a quick lift the express treatments will be a huge attraction. Each lasting between 30 and 45 minutes they range from Microdermabrasion to Booster Facials.

Alternatively guests can go all out for a true destination spa experience – just 20 minutes from Central London - with the residential or day packages including the Perfect Peace, which lasts half a day with 2 hours of treatments.

East River Spa has incorporated a couples’ only treatment room, for those whose hectic work schedules and conflicting social calendars often get in the way of intimate pampering time. The space allows total relaxation à deux in serene surroundings - a first for the area.

The Take Two package includes a selection of extravagant treatments for twosomes. The Cleopatra Mud Bathing experience is unparalleled for sheer fun and indulgence. The treatment involves applying toning muds and natural salts to the body in a private steam chamber as cleansing steam is jetted out of a crystal ball. The mud bath is followed by a couple’s massage, and ends with champagne and strawberries served in the relaxation room – the ultimate treat.

No expense has been spared in the design of this luxurious yet understated contemporary spa. The seven treatment rooms and relaxation suite, which features six gently warmed Hamman marble loungers, are elegantly modern. Once treatments have been completed guests are encouraged to unwind in this serene space, which is gently suffused with the scent of essential oils and offers peaceful views of the water.

Freshly squeezed juices and fruit sorbets, herbal infusions and fresh fruit complete the experience and ensure all guests leave feeling energized, invigorated and relaxed.

The gym at East River Spa is packed with the very latest Technogym exercise equipment. A personal trainer is available on request. Guests will also have access to a swimming pool, open from 6am -11pm, 7 days a week, which is located in the adjacent residential development.
