Savour Singapore’s culinary delights at Grand Park Otaru, Japan

Diners at Grand Park Otaru in Hokkaido, Japan will get the chance to sample Singapore’s culinary favourites when the hotel holds a Singapore Food Fair at Terrace Brasserie, its all-day dining restaurant, from January 21 to February 15.

Comprising a wide and rich variety of Asian cuisines including Chinese, Malay, Indian and Peranakan (Nonya or Straits Chinese), the fair will feature Singapore’s all-time favourite dishes such as Hainanese Chicken Rice, Chilli and Black Pepper Crab, Laksa (thick rice noodles served with rich gravy), Fish Curry and Chicken Curry in buffet style.

Other delectable dishes available include Gado Gado (Indonesian-style mixed salad), Mango Prawn and Mee Goreng (fried noodles). There will also be a live cooking station servingitems such as Prawn Noodle and Popiah (Chinese springroll), while the dessert counter will feature popular items like Pulut Hitam (steamed black rice with coconut milk) and Bubur Cha Cha (yam and sweet potato cubes served in coconut milk and sago). The world-famous
Singapore Sling cocktail will also be served.

Overseeing the preparation of the Singapore culinary selection will be Park Hotel Group’s Corporate Chef Ivan Yeo, assisted by Executive Chef Chua Yew Hock. Chef Ivan oversees the Group’s culinary and kitchen operations and has won many culinary awards. He is also theCoach for the Singapore National Team which won 3 Gold and a Silver medal last year in the IKA HOGA Olympic Competition in Erfurt, Germany.

“Singapore is known for its diverse and excellent range of cuisine. With Park Hotel Group’s award-winning Corporate Chef Ivan Yeo at the helm, the Singapore Food Fair will offer our guests here the chance to savour culinary delights that are not readily available in Japan and
unique dishes that Singaporeans are so passionate about,” said Mr Yasuhiko Sugasawa, Hotel Manager of Grand Park Otaru.

The Singapore Food Fair will be held as part of the international buffet at Terrace Brasserie.

It is priced at 1,980 yen (US$22/S$32) for adults and 990 yen for 6-12 year-old children (lunch); 3,500 yen and 1,750 yen (dinner). Lunch is served between 11:30 am and 2:00 pm,
and dinner between 5:30 pm and 8:30 pm.

Acquired by Park Hotel Group in December 2008, the 296-room Grand Park Otaru is located on Ishikari Bay, just 35 km from Sapporo, the largest city in Hokkaido. The 18-storey
hotel is strategically located in the picturesque sea-trading port of Otaru, renowned for its quaint old streets, Victorian-style buildings and canals, and glass-blowing cottage industries.
Grand Park Otaru’s rooms and suites either have an ocean view, facing Ishikari Bay, or a mountain view, overlooking the town area of Otaru and Mount Tengu. Besides four F&B
outlets, conference rooms and two wedding chapels, the hotel also houses Wing Bay Otaru, one of Hokkaido's largest shopping malls, with a wide range of dining, retail and
entertainment options including cinemas and spa facilities. It is also in close proximity of top-notch golf courses and ski resorts.
