Starwood continues expansion of Le Meridien brand in Spain with the signing of Le Meridien Ra in Cataluna

Dynamic Global Growth Continues for Le Méridien under Starwood
Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. announced today it has entered into a long term agreement with the Groupo Reyna, a Catalan real estate development company, to manage the newly named Hotel Le Méridien RA in the Cataluña region. Formerly the Hotel RA Beach Thalasso-Spa, it will undergo an extensive renovation and is schedule to open 1st January 2007.
This is the latest addition to the Le Méridien portfolio since Starwood Hotels & Resorts acquired the brand in November 2005 and represents the second Le Méridien property in Spain, complementing its sister property Le Méridien Barcelona.

With Cataluña’s rich culinary traditions, history and cultural offerings it is an ideal location for Le Méridien,” stated Eva Zeigler, Senior Vice President Le Méridien Brand.

The Le Méridien RA is a beach front resort conversion from a landmark building inaugurated by King Alfonso XIII in 1929, located in the Costa Dorada, 30 kilometres northeast of Tarragona and approximately 50 kilometres southwest of Barcelona.
The 143-room resort will feature a selection of dining outlets including an all day-dinning restaurant, a fine-dining restaurant, café, piano-bar, and during the summer months a grill restaurant by the pool and a beach club with sports facilities and a 200 metre private-beach. In addition guests will be able to enjoy the RA Wellness, one of the largest in the Spanish Mediterranean, with 63 treatment rooms, a Thalassotherapy centre, outdoor and indoor swimming pools and fitness centre.
The hotel also boasts extensive meetings and banquets facilities covering an area of approx. 14,300 square feet as well as business centre and private parking.
