Outrigger Hotels and Resorts has been honoured with three 2020 WAVE Awards in the first-ever virtual WAVE (Western Agents’ Votes of Excellence) Awards Ceremony. The premier beach resort brand proudly accepted accolades in TravelAge West’s Resort/Hotel category, including “Best Hotel Chain in Hawaii” for the fourth year in a row and “Best Hotel Brand for Families in Hawaii” for the third year running.

Further, Waikiki Beachcomber by Outrigger, Hawaii’s first and only craft hotel located in the heart of Waikiki, picked up the top accolade for “Best New Resort or Major Renovation in Hawaii,” to round out the evening.

Now more than ever, these awards are truly humbling and speak to the tireless dedication of our team,” said Sean Dee, EVP and chief marketing officer for Outrigger Hospitality Group. “To be recognised as the Best Hotel Chain and Best Hotel Brand for Families in the Aloha State after such a challenging year is a testament to The Outrigger Way of caring for guest, host and place. Waikiki Beachcomber by Outrigger has recently re-opened, so guests can again enjoy our uniquely handcrafted hotel in the heart of Waikiki.”

Outrigger was selected by more than 2,500 travel professionals from 15 Western states of the USA and by readers of TravelAge West who voted on the best of the best from a list of Editor’s Pick award recipients. Review methods included product analysis, on-site visits, a survey of a select group of travel advisors, and online research.

Normally, an in-person, black-tie dinner, the WAVE Awards, is an annual highlight of the year’s travel industry events. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s live event was moved to a virtual platform, but still captured the tone and celebration of the live gala. In addition to adapting the awards to a virtual platform, the editors of TravelAge West changed the focus of this year’s event — putting the perseverance of the travel advisor community front and center.
