Once upon a time...
The Grand-Casino or Kursaal of Geneva was built on the Quai du Mont-Blanc between 1884 and 1885, by François Durel, according to the plans of the architect John Camoletti de Cartigny (1848-1884). Offering game rooms, a restaurant, a large terrace and a theatre with music hall programs from April 1, 1900.
Following the first world war and the lack of tourists, the Casino closes before being bought by the city of Geneva in 1921. It then becomes a performance hall. Between 1952 and 1962, the hall wasused for lyrical performances following the fire at the Grand-Théâtre in Geneva.
At a 5-star hotel, providing exceptional service is essential, and those who truly love the art of hospitality are the ones who excel in creating memorable experiences for guests.
Deemed too dilapidated, this excellent performance venue was closed down in 1965, then demolished in 1970 to make way for the Hôtel Noga-Hilton, builtfrom 1978 to 1980, under whichis a new concert hall, the Théâtre du Léman. The Noga-Hilton Hotel opens its doors on 15 May 1980 becoming a flagship Hotel for the Hotel Brand Hilton in Europe.

At the fall of 2006, the Hotel is sold and Kempinski Hotels takes over the management with a partial renovation in 2007. Kempinski Hotels will manage the Hotel until 31 December 2019.
From 1 January 2020, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts (Accor) has taken over the operations of the Hotel with an extensive renovation program to restore the very high reputation of the landmark Hotel. The Architect Jean Nouvel has signed the Hotel new facade and Goddard Littlefair have been appointed for the new interior Hotel design.

Lighting triggered by interior sensor is found in some corridors, there are employee water fountains, a food salvage system by associations has been created. The Hotel deals with local suppliers for the origin of food and drinks.
Fairmont ordered two customized models to fit the Hotel’s image with an electric bike concept for clients. Concierges also use it during Summertime to limited the use of motor vehicles as much as possible.

This is my 1st time in my life I'm writing a review of any kind, but my disappointment for your hotel deserves it. So, the 1 star was for your hotel Location and Breakfast only which is not even that great but it was the only decent things. Carrying the hotel brand of Fairmont is an absolutely disgrace for this hotel. The building exterior looks like a world war II office, the lobby and furnitures is very old like a old 3 star hotel, and every floor ceiling is very low which is totally outdated. Upon check in, I asked the receptionist if it's king size bed, She asked her superior and then assured me that my room is king size bed but it totally wasn't, it was 2 single beds. The room has an awful smoky smell that just never goes away, I complained to the front desk and they said they couldn't do anything except put some product to cover the smell which only lasted 1 night and I had to stay at your hotel for 3 nightmare night and interior truly represents 3 star hotel level. The food for dinner was even worse, Everything is uneatable except the dessert.

I did not like the fact that I have been chased to increase the guarantee, while my reservation was done through my employer. Finding my door locked while I was entering the room by end of the day and being tired, was not fun. I even said I can leave my passport at the reception instead of increasing the guarantee, and this wasn’t accepted. I was quite surprised to be honest especially that this is not my first time in Fairmont.
I enjoyed best hotel with the best service.
