Sheraton will reward the top workaholics with well deserved vacations at Sheraton Resorts
In conjunction with Sheraton’s global resorts marketing launch, Sheraton hotels today announced a unique “Search for Asia Pacific’s Top Workaholics” campaign. Slated to run from 1st December 2008 to 26th January 2009, two participants will each win an amazing holiday for themselves and three other family members or friends, with stays at Sheraton resorts at exotic destinations of their choice*.
“Sheraton recognizes the daily grind we go through everyday and would like to reward successful, hardworking professionals with a holiday of their lifetime. Because at Sheraton Hotels & Resorts, we believe that we inspire that experience for travelers to relish the opportunities that travel brings,” commented Vincent Ong, Brand Director for Sheraton Hotels & Resorts, Asia Pacific.
“With almost 20 resorts in exotic locations across Asia-Pacific, Sheraton is the leading choice to plan that perfect getaway to reconnect with loved ones.” added Ong.
To join the contest, participants are simply required to submit a write-up describing why they think they are one of Asia Pacific’s top workaholics. This entry will then be posted to a blog and made available for public viewing and voting. Participants may also supplement this initial submission with added blog entries, while encouraging family and friends to vote for their submission. Voters will also stand a chance to win hotel stays from Sheraton Resorts.
The results for this campaign are fully driven by the number of votes received. The top two participants who garner the most number of votes on their published blog will win for themselves and three other family members or friends the complimentary holiday, where they get to indulge and be pampered by Sheraton Resorts. Sheraton Resorts in Asia Pacific are located in China, Australia, Japan, Fiji, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Guam and the Maldives.
A handy desktop widget is also available for download. Sheraton’s Workaholic Tracker Widget enables participants to track their votes in real-time and follow the blogs of two other participants, keeping them informed of their progress.
More details on the “Search for Asia Pacific’s Top Workaholics” is available on www.sheratonasia.com/topworkaholics . Entries are open to applicants residing in Australia, China, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand.
Do today’s professionals work too hard? Research shows today’s Professionals Connected to Work 24/7 – Even in the Bedroom
Sheraton recently launched a series of programs at its hotels aimed at making the stay of guests at all Sheraton hotels a warm and welcoming one. In addition, these programs inspire experiences which connect guests to what matters most to them during their travels, whether it is their family or business partners, the community or the destination. Programs launched include the Link@Sheraton(sm) experienced with Microsoft® which is a unique virtual and physical lobby lounge space that meets the needs of Sheraton’s core guests by enabling them to work, relax and remain connected, Sheraton sensory welcome experience, the redesigned sheraton.com website, and Sheraton’s City Tips which enable guests to connect to the destination even before they arrive.
In conjunction with the launch of Sheraton’s new “Link@Sheraton(sm) experienced with Microsoft®,”Sheraton Hotels & Resorts recently announced the findings of a Global Work Life study it commissioned to uncover the work habits of today’s professionals. Although most people say they love their PDA and feel connected to the office 24/7, new technology has helped them enjoy life more and enable them to spend more quality time with family and friends. Globally, 70% of executives say that they work more than they did five years ago because of new technology, while three-quarters (75%) feel compelled to be connected to work matters twenty four hours per day, seven days per week. This is especially true for professionals in the U.S.where 85% said they needed to be connected 24/7, though this is less so for UK and Australian execs where only 64% and 65% respectively said they work more now than they did five years ago.
No matter where we live, work and personal life continue to blur. PDAs overwhelm time spent at home, and downtime is used to catch up on work. Globally, 78% of people check their PDAs just before going to bed and as soon as they wake up in the morning. Three-quarters (75%) admit to sneaking a peek at e mail in the middle of the night and 79% check their e mail before their first cup of coffee. Just to what extent has this addiction to technology made us all double-time workaholics? Globally, a whopping 88% of people bring their PDA into their bedroom – especially the Chinese, who virtually all (95%) say they bring their PDAs to bed. And 27% of professionals surveyed say that their PDA is so important, that if they had to choose, they would have picked their PDA over their spouse!
