From the 16th to 21st April, Salone del Mobile, will take over Milan. Similar to Maison&Objet, the event doesn't start and stop at Rho Fiera's doors, with the Design Week bringing extra life to Brera, the city's most stylist neighbourhood. This year's edition will comprise the Salone Internazionale del Mobile itself, the biannual EuroCucina and FTK (Technology For the Kitchen), the International Bathroom Exhibition, International Furnishing Accessories Exhibition, Workplace 3.0 and S. Project.

The show has been a global design haven for more than 60 years, and with over 1,300 exhibitors hitting the floor of Rho Fiera this year and more than 260 events scheduled, it is set to once again live up to expectations. This year also features a new cultural programme for a 360° artistic experience. If you're planning to visit, six days won't be enough to take it all in, and deciding which events or stands to prioritise will turn into a Cornelian dilemma. Here are some key rendez-vous that Journal des Palaces is looking forward to.
  • "Thinking Room", Interiors by David Lynch, the anticipated installation by David Lynch. (Pavilions 5 and 7)
  • Universo Satellite, an exhibition celebrating the 25th anniversary of SaloneSatellite, that curates hundreds of projects by as many designers. An exhibition "within" the exhibition designed to shine a light on young designers. (Triennale di Milano, Viale Emilio Alemagna 6)
  • The Eames Lighting Collection unveiled for the first time at the Cassina showroom. (Via Durini, 16)
  • Architects Fabio Novembre, and Piero Lissoni, along with designers Philippe Starck and Patricia Urquiola at the Kartell stand. (Hall 22, Stand A11/B10/B15/C12/C18)
  • High-end kitchen brand Gaggenau's latest collection "The Elevation of Gravity" presented in the garden pavilion of the Villa Necchi Campiglio. (Via Mozart, 14)
  • PoltronaFrau "Imagine Collection" unveiled at their flagship store. Rediscover the brand featured at the Hotel Lutetia and Hotel Café Royal, to name only a few. (Via Manzoni 30)
  • The display at iDogi, the chandler behind the masterpiece installed at the Raffles London at OWO. (Hall 15 stand C14-C16 and Hall 10 Stand D19)
  • Luxury bath brand's GRAFF new collections presented in a relaxing sanctuary created by Davide Oppizzi. (Hall 10, Stand A06)
  • Technogym celebrating their 40th anniversary in their showroom through an exhibition designed by Giulio Cappellini. (Via Durini, 1)
  • The conference “New Shapes of Hospitality” dedicated to discuss the ever fast evolving hospitality sector, and its development opportunities. (Friday 19th April at 4 p.m)
  • A visit to Triennale di Milano for the many exhibitions and art installations part of both Salone del Milano and Fuorisalone. (Viale Emilio Alemagna, 6)
And as we wander through the Milanese streets, we'll find a moment to visit the Salone Design Kiosk, designed by DWA Design Studio. Installed since 8th of April on the Piazza della Scala, it's an invitation to discover design through selected publications and literature. And to reset before the next event!
