Distinguished expert Lisa Hahn leads inspiring journeys that reveal the intriguing histories behind the world’s greatest art treasures
Regent Seven Seas Cruises, voted the “#1 Small-Ship Cruise Line” in Condé Nast Traveler’s 2007 Readers’ Choice Awards poll, has scheduled three Circles of Interest enrichment programs focusing on art and architecture for 2008. Circles of Interest feature exclusive onboard and shore-side experiences delivered by world-class lecturers, instructors and authorities from the realms of art, cuisine, history, environmental conservation, photography and wellness.
Art- and architecture-focused Circles of Interest from Regent will be offered aboard select summer and fall voyages of the 700-guest, all-suite, all-balcony ship Seven Seas Voyager® and the 490-guest, all-suite Seven Seas Navigator®. Lisa Hahn, president and founder of Art Horizons International, a special-interest tour company that provides enriching journeys focusing on art, architecture and the performing arts, will lead June 9, July 26 and September 9, 2008 voyages featuring artistic and architectural treasures in northern Europe, the Mediterranean, the Adriatic Coast, the Greek Isles and northern Africa.
These Circles of Interest programs will provide guests with rare opportunities to discover countless masterpieces representing the height of classic creativity, and meet distinguished contemporary artists who discuss their work and inspirations. Hahn, a trustee of SUNY New Paltz University and board member of The Samuel Dorsky Museum of Art, has studied art and archaeology at Princeton University and New York University. She will host guests at private receptions, offer informative lectures, and lead tours of art studios, museums and acclaimed art libraries in Africa, Greece, Portugal and Spain. Guests will also have opportunities to interact with other world-class artists and instructors, and enjoy stimulating presentations on classic and contemporary art.

Regent’s art- and architecture-themed Circles of Interest will deliver truly memorable experiences throughout 2008.”
The 2008 schedule of art-oriented Circles of Interest cruises includes:
•Art and Architecture, June 9-19, 2008, Seven Seas Voyager, Monte Carlo to Dover – The fine line that divides art and architecture is explored in this fascinating enrichment program. Lisa will welcome guests with a private reception, followed by a lecture focusing on the styles and techniques found in contemporary architecture. Special attention will be paid to the development of modern architecture in Spain and Portugal. The program is highlighted by a visit to Portugal’s new Ellipse Foundation Contemporary Art Center. This dramatic 20,000 square foot space focuses on contemporary Portuguese and international art. Guests will also tour the 14th century Sintra Palace, located atop a mountain village in one of Portugal’s oldest towns.
•Art in Exile, July 26-Aug. 2, 2008, Seven Seas Navigator, Venice to Piraeus – The Cyclades Islands have inspired artists for generations. Today, the Islands’ cobalt blue waters, fresh air, bright white houses and stark rock formations are home to many gifted artists. Lisa will introduce guests to some of these “Artists in Exile.” The program will begin with a lecture on the origins of Impressionist painting in the north of France, and move on to a private group dinner featuring a discussion of the Getty Museum. The program is highlighted by visits to the studios of three contemporary artists living on the small, beautiful island of Mykonos, Greece.
•Architecture and Literature, Sept. 9-20, 2008, Seven Seas Navigator, Istanbul to Piraeus – The world’s greatest literary treasures have often been housed in impressive architectural masterpieces. On this voyage, Lisa will present lectures and presentations focusing on global libraries and learning centers. The program begins with a welcome reception, followed by lectures and a private dinner focusing on libraries as the new temples of culture and communication. Guests will also explore the partnerships and alliances forged across the art world. In Alexandria, Egypt, guests will visit the Alexandria Library Museum, a major cultural center that is a commemoration of the Library at Alexandria, lost in antiquity, and an attempt to rekindle the brilliance this earlier library represented.
