Five-Star Resort Situated by Miles of Unspoiled Beaches to Feature World-Class Hotels, Luxury Vacation Residences Available for Purchase, and Abundant Sport and Leisure Activities

On January 29th 2008, David Beckham and resort developer Torben Frantzen, president of Brazil Development Investimentos Turisticos Ltda (BDIT) unveiled Cabo Sao Roque, Brazil's newest luxury lifestyle destination resort. Globally-recognized sports icons, Brazilian dignitaries, and international VIPs hosted the announcement and groundbreaking ceremony for Phase One of the resort and vacation residence community.

BDIT President Torben Frantzen joined David Beckham and the Honorable Wilma de Faria, Governor of the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Norte to introduce the Cabo Sao Roque master plan at the beachside ceremony. Cabo Sao Roque uniquely combines one of the world's most pristine, beautiful ocean-front sites with abundant natural resources. Residence owners and guests from around the world will enjoy an unprecedented scale and variety of first-class lifestyle amenities and exciting outdoor and sporting activities.

During the introduction ceremony David Beckham also unveiled his plans for The David Beckham World of Sport, the first in a series of unique professional quality sporting experiences. This professional athlete training centre, designed and planned with his full co-operation, will include world-class facilities and eight football (soccer) pitches (fields), with the ability to accommodate resort guests and visiting teams alike. Beckham also announced that the facility will incorporate a scholarship program for Brazilian children that will actively outreach to schools in the region.

"I am honoured to be associated with this incredible project which will build world class sporting facilities in Brazil, hopefully having a major impact at a local level and internationally," commented David Beckham. "I have enjoyed working with the architects at Cabo Sao Roque to design a sporting experience that will excite both professional athletes and people whatever their ability. I am incredibly proud of the work my Academies do both in London and Los Angeles and I am happy Brazilian children will benefit from access to the top class facilities and coaching at this resort."

Also announced were two motor sports attractions developed by Brazil's F1 champion Rubens Barrichello. The Rubens Barrichello Driving Experience is designed for automotive enthusiasts of all ages that will include a four-wheel driving experience as well as the Barrichello Auto Arena go-kart racing experience for families and children to test their track driving skills. The Rubens Barrichello facility will offer a scholarship program for young Brazilians to help discover the country's next F1 driving champion.

"After many years of driving professionally, I'm proud to help design the Rubens Barrichello Driving Experience courses and the Auto Arena facilities for racing fans to enjoy," said Rubens Barrichello. "I hope Cabo Sao Roque guests and residents will have as much fun as I did creating the experience."

Cabo Sao Roque's vacation residences were also unveiled, showcasing a variety of ecologically-conscious models that will comprise the 1,350 private freehold residences to be built throughout the gated resort community as part of Phase One. Vacation residences will cover a range of prices from apartments up to luxury villas and will be offered through regional exclusive sales agents in Europe, North America, Brazil and South America to be announced shortly. David Beckham and Rubens Barrichello have already committed to buying homes in the resort as well.

"We are delighted with the fantastic support of both David Beckham and Rubens Barrichello within Cabo Sao Roque and will be making periodic announcements regarding our Phase One hotel partners, vacation home sales representatives and additional alliances with leading sports icons and governing bodies," commented Torben Franzten. "Over time, we believe that the outstanding array of accommodations and the professional quality athletic complex to be built at Cabo Sao Roque will attract major sporting teams to train here, as well as draw some of the world's most prestigious events to select the resort as a host location."

Developer BDIT is creating one of the most environmentally-sound resorts, and will also invest in upgrades to infrastructure in the nearby fishing village of Maxaranguape that will help grow the local economy while also supporting Brazil's national tourism investment strategy. Planned upgrades in the village include construction of a hospital, a new school equipped with computers and books, and bringing language, sports specialists and hospitality industry/food service instructors to the region to begin training area residents for future job openings in and around the resort compound.

The development team at Cabo Sao Roque is working closely with Brazilian and international environmental agencies and independent advisors to ensure that the resort is created with respect to its natural environment. The resort maintains the spirit of its location that is reflected in the master plan, design elements, physical placement of facilities and amenities within the stunning tropical location. Each individual building has been designed to incorporate a credible ecological agenda informed by the latest thinking in environmentally sensitive construction utilizing a natural palette of materials. Cabo Sao Roque will employ a broad spectrum of both active and passive green technologies.
