Benchmark Hospitality International has announced the appointment of John Wood as vice president of human resources for the leading hospitality management company. Sam Haigh, president and chief operating officer, made the announcement.
“I am very pleased to welcome John to Benchmark Hospitality,” said Mr. Haigh. “It's wonderful to have a professional with such strong leadership skills, extensive human resources experience, and diverse industry knowledge join our team to lead this critically important department.”
John Wood was most recently the senior vice president of human resources for Sterling
Companies, a large real estate company headquartered in Destin, Florida, which develops and operates residential communities, including a number of resorts.
For six years prior to this, Mr. Wood served in positions of increasing responsibility within human resources for John Wieland Homes and Neighborhoods of Atlanta, Georgia. These positions included employment manager, manager of human resources, director of human resources, and finally vice president of human resources.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Wood invested 14 years with Eastern Airlines and Continental Airlines, moving from positions in sales to flight services to eventually recruitment.
John Wood graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. He and his wife have relocated to The Woodlands.
