February 15 Unveiling To Celebrate Resurgence of Seaside Community

Visitors and locals alike will be amazed by the transformation of the Hyatt Regency Mission Bay Spa and Marina – a true reflection of the Southern California lifestyle and a destination offering guests an opportunity to experience the best of San Diego. The landmark hotel’s $65 million makeover brings luxury and excitement to this seaside community with breath-taking ocean views, first class waterfront dining, a new high energy poolside lounge, an eco-friendly spa, waterfront fitness center, and redesigned guestrooms, meeting rooms and grounds.

“Ocean views, water sports and a central location – Mission Bay encompasses everything people travel to San Diego to experience,” said Mohsen Khaleghi, General Manager, Hyatt Regency Mission Bay Spa and Marina. “And, it has everything people who live here have come to love about our city.”

The reinvented property on Mission Bay, which will be officially unveiled at a ceremony on February 15, 2008, features 430 contemporary guestrooms, three new swimming pools with waterslides, a fitness center on the marina and lush tropical landscaping throughout.

A new signature waterfront restaurant, Red Marlin, features California fresh, refined fare by Chef de Cuisine, Danny Bannister. Seating options include an open-air terrace, the perfect setting in which to enjoy a romantic meal on the water’s edge, a communal chef’s table in the heart of the restaurant and situated adjacent to a wine wall, as well as “flex dining rooms” ideal for entertaining groups. Bannister, who honed his skills at several of San Diego’s most acclaimed restaurants before finding his home at Red Marlin, will serve a California-modern menu with fresh, locally grown ingredients.

SWIM, a chic poolside lounge, offers guests scratch-made signature cocktails such as a Pomegranate Margarita and a Blueberry Mojito. SWIM also offers a fusion menu of Pan-Latino inspired dishes in a setting featuring indoor and heated outdoor patio seating, with a fire pit to warm up coastal nights

The first eco-friendly spa in the world renowned HyattPure™ collection, Blue Marble Spa™, dispenses with the myth that conservation can’t go hand in hand with luxury. An inviting place of intelligent, environmentally-conscious design, Blue Marble is operated by award-winning Spa Director Kyra Johnson and offers a spa experience of natural, nourishing renewal with treatments featuring organic products and eco-friendly practices.

The Hyatt Regency Mission Bay Spa and Marina also features 30,000 square feet of flexible indoor and outdoor function space, designed to accommodate every special event, from business meetings to wedding receptions. New executive meeting rooms feature state of the art built-in audiovisual equipment and high speed internet access. All of the function space takes advantage of the hotel’s prime waterfront location and San Diego’s ideal weather.

Neighboring SeaWorld®, the family-friendly San Diego hotel is perfectly situated to explore Balboa Park, Lego Land®, the Gaslamp Quarter and the beautiful beaches.
