IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group) has announced the opening of InterContinental Al Khobar, the group's 20th property in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The property is ideally situated just a few minutes from Al Khobar's corniche in the heart of the city. It is also close to the business and commercial centre, making the luxury hotel an ideal choice for both business and leisure travellers.

"Opening our 20th property in Saudi Arabia represents the group's commitment to the Kingdom as a vitally important destination for both domestic and international travelers," said John Bamsey, Chief Operating Officer, InterContinental Hotels Group, Middle East & Africa. "The introduction of the InterContinental brand in Al Khobar is a sign of the city's increasing demand for excellence in both accommodation and service as standard. The team at InterContinental Al Khobar will position this property in the market by delivering enriching destination experiences that give guests a unique insight into this emerging destination".

InterContinental Al Khobar boasts 120 well-appointed, luxurious guestrooms and suites complete with a full range of amenities including plasma screen interactive TVs and WiFi access.

The Club InterContinental floor located at the top of the hotel has a private check-in facility. At the Club Lounge guests can enjoy a complimentary breakfast buffet, afternoon snacks and refreshments throughout the day as well as enjoy the magnificent view of the Al Khobar city and the sea from the terrace. Business travellers also have access to a board-style meeting room and a fully-equipped business centre with secretarial services. In-house conference facilities include five meeting rooms with state-of-the-art video, audio and telecommunications equipment for corporate clients.

The hotel's leisure facilities include a temperature controlled roof-top swimming pool, a spa with a Moroccan-style Hammam and sauna and steam rooms. The hotel also features a gymnasium with the latest equipment and a qualified fitness instructor.

The hotel's food and beverage outlets include ‘Twist', an all day dining facility serving a lunch buffet and à la carte menu, ‘T. Square' serving coffee, tea, pastries and light snacks and ‘Breeze' poolside restaurant, complete with exotic fruit mocktails.

InterContinental Hotels & Resorts has recently opened its 150th hotel at Dubai Festival City and as of 31 December 2007 had 62 hotels in the global development pipeline, of which 11 properties and 3,313 rooms were in Middle East and Africa region alone, representing a growth of almost 30% on the current portfolio.
