IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group) [Lon: IHG; NYSE: IHG (ADRs)], one of the world's largest hotel groups by number of rooms, announced today that The Hotel Management Group, the company's Americas Operations division, was awarded the Silver Reggie Award for its 2007 "Chase the Extraordinary" program from the Promotion Marketing Association (PMA).

The company received the award in the Business to Business Promotion category that was announced at the PMA Annual Integrated Marketing Conference & REGGIE Awards, April 8-9, 2008 in Chicago.

"We are honored to be recognized for a program that we had a great time implementing across the Americas region," said Tom Murray, COO, the Americas, IHG. "We hit the road and visited more than 200 company-managed hotels across the region and fulfilled our pledge to go beyond what is ordinary or usual by implementing best practices and innovative initiatives for our guests, owners and communities."

Over nearly six months, the "Chase the Extraordinary" program reached more than 30 states and 12 countries and included employee rallies to launch new company initiatives for 2007 and beyond. The cornerstone of the program was an environmental initiative to replace more than 250,000 incandescent light bulbs with new energy-efficient compact fluorescent lights (CFL) in guest rooms at company-managed hotels across the Americas region. This environmental initiative will have the impact of removing the equivalent of more than 17,000 cars and their carbon dioxide emissions from American highways. Over the life of the CFL bulbs, these hotels will save over $5 million in energy costs.

Also, as part of the program an additional 15,000 CFLs were distributed to employees of company-managed properties for use in their homes so they could have the opportunity to adopt the same practice that was implemented at the hotels.

IHG partnered with TCP, Inc., on the new environmental initiative. TCP, Inc., an industry-leading lighting innovator and manufacturer of energy-efficient CFLs, is based in Ohio.

The Reggie Awards are dedicated to recognizing superior promotional thinking, creativity, execution and results across the full spectrum of promotional/integrated marketing. The name of the award - Reggie - is derived from "cash register." It was chosen because "nothing happens until a sale is made."
