This summer, the hotel chain will be launching a brand-new concept in children’s entertainment and activities, based on fun, enjoying the outdoors and values education

This summer, RIU Hotels & Resorts will be launching RiuLand, its new concept of children’s entertainment and activities created by its Entertainment and Activities Department’s team of professionals. The brand-new programme, which even boasts its own image and music, offers children between 4 and 12 a wide array of age-appropriate fun things to do that promote good group dynamics and education in values such as cultural diversity and ecology.

RiuLand was conceived to give RIU’s entertainment and activities programme for children an improved and modern twist and is slated to open in all ClubHotels in Spain and Portugal as of May. The activities are planned with different age groups in mind (Club 4.7 and Club 8.12) and place a premium on physical group activities outdoors instead of more static pastimes, such as handicrafts and table games.

Getting to know the world through play

RIU suggests that children jump right in at our brand-new RiuLand to explore a programme of 12 themed days of which Aqualand Day, featuring games in the Riu Olympic swimming pool, and Piratesland, a day chock-full of rough and tough pirate contests and treasure hunting are just two examples.

Values education tops off the fun on two of these themed days. Riu World is an original proposal that introduces children to the cultures of countries as disparate as the Dominican Republic and Papua-New Guinea through Games from Around the World, which features the most popular children’s games from these places. Not only that, Ecoland encourages children to get to know the ecosystem of the hotel’s natural surroundings through a number of different activities that also seek to reinforce the importance of caring for the environment.

ClubHotel is RIU’s most family-oriented line of hotels and has a broad range of sports and activities on offer that makes it the ideal brand for families with children, young people, those who feel young and sports-lovers. Furthermore, all ClubHotels offers all-inclusive service so that guests are free to choose the restaurant, bar and timetable that best suits them at all times.

The following hotels will be inaugurating RiuLands during the initial phase of project implementation: ClubHotel Riu Oliva Beach Resort (Fuerteventura), ClubHotel Riu Paraiso Lanzarote Resort (Lanzarote), ClubHotel Riu Waikiki, ClubHotel Riu Gran Canaria and ClubHotel Riu Vistamar (all three of which are in Gran Canaria), ClubHotel Riu Chiclana (Cadiz), ClubHotel Riu Tropicana (Mallorca) and Hotel Riu La Mola (Formentera). The new ClubHotel Riu Guarana, which will be opening its doors in the Portuguese Algarve in June this year, will also feature a RiuLand. RIU will be inaugurating ClubHotels in other destinations such as Africa and America later on.
