Texas Receives InterContinental Hotels Group's 85th Staybridge Suites Property

InterContinental Hotels Group announced today that Staybridge Suites has opened the doors of its newest all-suite hotel in Brownsville, Texas. The InterContinental Hotels Group portfolio in Texas is represented by six brands including extended-stay, upper upscale, upscale, full service and limited service segments with more than 200 hotels and 28,000 rooms.


"We are pleased to announce the opening of our eighth Staybridge Suites hotel in Texas,” said Robert Radomski, vice president, brand management, Staybridge Suites. “The addition of Brownsville is part of our strategic growth effort to place Staybridge Suites in markets with high demand for extended-stay travel.”


The $7.5 million all-suite property is located in Brownsville just minutes from key area attractions, which include the U.S./Mexico border and the Gladys Porter Zoo. The 99-room hotel is also 20 miles from South Padre Island, a popular leisure and business travel location that has become one of the fastest growing meeting and convention destinations in the southwestern U.S.


The 70,000-sq. ft. property features a sport court and a putting green, as well as a gazebo and an outdoor pool and spa. Guests at the new Staybridge Suites can choose from three suite options (deluxe studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom/two-bath). All suites feature fully equipped kitchens, in-room DVD/CD players, functional, well-lit work stations with ergonomic seating, data ports, two-line speaker phone with voicemail and direct dial access and high-speed internet access is also available at no charge.


The new hotel offers several unique amenities such as complimentary guest laundry and workout facilities, deluxe complimentary daily breakfast buffet which features a rotating selection of hot items, a 24-hour convenience store and a 24-hour business services center. In addition, guests will enjoy gathering in the hotel’s Great Room for evening "Sundowner” receptions three days a week for refreshments, light appetizers and conversation.
