The Clarion Hotel Cork, Ireland has been named the International Hotel of
the Year by worldwide lodging franchisor Choice Hotels International, Inc.
(NYSE: CHH), franchisor of the Clarion brand. The award was given to Clarion
Hotels Ireland, owner of the hotel and Charlie Sheil, general manager, at the
company's 54th annual convention last month in Las Vegas, Nevada.
"As the winner of the International Hotel of the Year Award for the
Clarion brand, the Clarion Hotel Cork has performed exceptionally, standing
out among its peers for operational excellence," said Bruce Haase, executive
vice president, global brand operations.
Choice Hotels annually presents the International Hotel of the Year Award
to hotels that demonstrate lodging excellence. For the international awards,
the best of each brand is selected by reviewing Quality Assurance Review
scores, which cover a variety of categories including maintenance,
cleanliness and branding. Winning hotels must have been a part of the Choice
system for more than a year.
"I believe our exceptional guest service and attention to detail is what

The 197-room Clarion Hotel Cork, which joined the Choice Hotels system in
2004, and which opened in 2005 is located at Lapps Quay in Cork, Ireland,
where it overlooks the River Lee and is located just minutes from the heart
of Cork City Business & Shopping Quarter, the English Market, the Shandon
Bells, Crawford Municipal Art Gallery, University College Cork and the
historic Cork City Gaol heritage centre. The hotel offers an 18-meter indoor
heated pool, steam room, hot tub/whirlpool, gymnasium, essence health spa,
