Rezidor announces a new Park Inn in Germany

The Rezidor Hotel Group announces the Park Inn Papenburg – with this signing the company’s pipeline of hotels in operation and under construction in Germany reaches 45 properties. Park Inn Papenburg is a common project with Rezidor’s franchise partner Proventhotels; the 101 room-hotel is currently under construction and will be finished by autumn 2008.

“Germany is an important home market for us”, comments Kurt Ritter, President & CEO of Rezidor. “With our fastest growing brand Park Inn we recently celebrated a lot of openings there and will continue to strengthen our portfolio in the country”.

Proventhotels already manages the Park Inn hotels Cologne City-West and Heppenheim. “We are glad to open the first international hotel brand in Papenburg. Most of the local clients have already showed strong interest in working with us. We also generate the first requests and contract options for the MICE and leisure segment” announces Michael Lachmann, manager of Provent.

The new hotel will provide 101 rooms, a restaurant, a bar, 5 meeting rooms with a total surface of 350 square meters and 50 parking spaces. On the top floor it will offer a business friendly category as penthouse apartments and studios. For wellness and relaxation Park Inn Papenburg will feature a huge wellness area on 120 square meters including sauna, whirlpool, steam bath and solarium. For sportive guests a variety of cardio equipment will be provided.

Papenburg is located in the North West of Germany at the banks of the River Ems and accommodates the most southern sea port along the German coast. The town is well located at the Motorway A31 (North Sea – Central Germany) and is connected by train and adjacent highways to the larger city of Bremen to the East as well as the Netherlands to the West. Many ship-industry related companies are located in Papenburg. The most famous is “Meyer Werft” which builds modern cruise ships such as the Queen Elisabeth II. Another business demand generator will be the major car test site for Daimler/Mercedes operated by ATP GmbH. The city plans to increase also tourism demand by redeveloping the central area of the city where the new hotel is integrated. Shops and restaurants will be added to complete the leisure attractions in the immediate vicinity. Park Inn Papenburg will be surrounded by town houses in similar architecture with private boat piers.
