Rosewood Hotels & Resorts Deploys Colubris Wireless Solutions to Make Its Ultra-Luxury Services Seamless and Efficient

Colubris Deployed at The Mansion on Peachtree and at Rosewood Mayakoba to Provide Wireless Connectivity to Guests and Enhance Employee Voice Communications

Colubris Networks, the leading global provider of intelligent wireless LANs (WLANs) for enterprises and service providers, today announced that Rosewood Hotels & Resorts, the premier manager of ultra-luxury properties throughout the world, has deployed Colubris technology at its newly opened The Mansion on Peachtree Hotel & Residences in Atlanta and at Rosewood Mayakoba in Riviera Maya, Mexico. The two properties are leveraging a Colubris WLAN to securely and cost-effectively offer guests widespread Internet access, support mobile point-of-sale devices and efficiently dispatch staff to service guests using wireless telephones.

Rosewood Hotels & Resorts operates with one thing in mind: to provide guests and residents the highest level of personalized, on demand, ultra-luxury service and hospitality. To support this mission, Rosewood wanted to invest in a single wireless infrastructure that could support both voice and data communications and a range of business applications, allowing staff to deliver the service that Rosewood patrons have come to know and expect. In addition, the organization wanted to provide uninterrupted wireless coverage for employees and guests at two properties with dramatically different layouts – a 42-story hotel and residence tower in downtown Atlanta (The Mansion on Peachtree) and a sprawling 1,600-acre Caribbean beachfront resort (Rosewood Mayakoba).

Working with CLC Networks, a systems integrator and long-standing Colubris partner, Rosewood Hotels & Resorts deployed Colubris MultiService Access Points (MAPs) and Colubris MultiService Controllers (MSCs) at The Mansion on Peachtree and Rosewood Mayakoba, allowing guests to enjoy wireless Internet access in their rooms, conference rooms and, at Mayakoba, at outdoor pool and beach areas. Colubris’ WLAN technology is also enabling point-of-sale devices, allowing pool service and mini bar attendants to automatically add food and beverage items to a guest’s bill.

A huge selling point for Rosewood was the Colubris MSC, which centrally controls the operation of the wireless infrastructure, including the management of hundreds of wireless access points from a single interface, easing infrastructure management requirements for Rosewood. The organization also cited Colubris’ rock-solid security as critical to the deployment, as Rosewood can easily segment guest Internet traffic from business application access, and keep all network data private as it travels the airwaves.

"The more we extend staff communication, the higher we raise guest expectations about the level of service they will and should receive,” said Fred Crespo, corporate director of information systems at Rosewood Hotels & Resorts. “As a result, we need to make sure our wireless technology delivers. With Colubris, we have a WLAN in place that is robust, secure, reliable and easily managed, allowing us to enhance the overall guest experience."

Rosewood and CLC, along with premier Mitel hospitality partner DCI-Design, leveraged Colubris’ certification with the Polycom Voice Interoperability for Enterprise Wireless (VIEW) program and have equipped every staff member with SpectraLink Wireless Telephones, allowing front desk, housekeeping, maintenance, dining/catering and security personnel to remain in close contact and respond quickly to individual requests. Through the Colubris WLAN, Rosewood can route guest requests to the appropriate personnel within closest proximity, enabling rapid response and more efficient communications.

"The fact that Colubris’ WLAN solutions can easily support SpectraLink Wireless Telephones makes it easy for customers to leverage a single WLAN infrastructure for much more than data applications, ensuring on-the-move employees benefit from secure, uninterrupted voice performance,” said Michael Wagoner, vice president of engineering for CLC Networks. “In addition, through the central control of its access points, Colubris reduces the time and complexity of managing a wireless network, making our ongoing management tremendously easy."
