With the end of the year approaching, we received great news. The Czech gourmet guide, Grand Restaurants 2006, listed the fine-dining Alcron Restaurant in second place in the Top 20 Best Restaurants in the Czech Republic.

The Alcron restaurant was especially acknowledged for its excellent food, which is superbly prepared by Executive Chef Jiri Stift and his team. The restaurant, which specializes in fish and seafood, has received many awards since its opening in 2000, including the prestigious Five Star Diamond Award from the American Hospitality Sciences in New York. The restaurant has also been previously listed among the Top 20 restaurants in this same guide. The Alcron’s inclusion in this guide is not the only good new we received. The Art Deco La Rotonde Restaurant, featuring international and local dishes and offering special seasonal and other dining promotions throughout the year, was listed in the same Grand Restaurants 2006 Guide in fifth place in the Top 20 Best Restaurants within the country.

Both awards are evidence that the hotel is maintaining its high quality dining standards and are a tribute to the hard work of Chef Jiri Stift, who is continually enhancing the culinary skills of both himself and his team.

This summer Stift attended a prestigious culinary school – The Culinary Institute of America (CIA) in California. “Every such cooking course is not only a chance to meet new people, exchange experience and encounter various influences; but above all, it represents a fantastic think tank for new ideas. I was particularly interested in the wide variety of foodstuffs we used to prepare dishes,” says Stift. Although the school is known for its innovation, it still places great emphasis on traditional procedures and honors “true cooking,” which means using only the freshest ingredients.
In addition to Stift’s activity in the kitchen, he will start another year of the popular Exclusive Cooking Classes in January, 2006. Also, Stift has just recently introduced the exclusive “Gourmet Impressions,” fully-prepared take-away meals for home dining.
