IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group) [LON: IHG, NYSE:IHG (ADRs)], one of the world's largest hotel groups by number of rooms, today announced that the Crowne Plaza Portland-Downtown (U.S.) has opened. The hotel is in the final stages of a $3 million conversion from a Holiday Inn. Renovations include a new lobby, new exterior paint, new furniture throughout the hotel, upgraded mattresses in the guestrooms and an upgraded bathroom package.
Conveniently situated in the Lloyd Business District of downtown Portland, the 241-room hotel is within four blocks of the Rose Garden Arena, the Memorial Coliseum and the Oregon Convention Center, the largest convention center in the Pacific Northwest. Nearby businesses include Kaiser Permanente, Adidas, Nationwide Insurance and PacifiCorp.
The Crowne Plaza Portland-Downtown is located in Fareless Square, where all trips on MAX, Portland's light rail system, are free. The Pearl District, Portland's most colorful and creative neighborhood is just minutes away. The Portland International Airport is located 10 miles from the hotel, and complimentary shuttle service is provided.

The ten-story Crowne Plaza offers a variety of amenities, including a state-of-the-art fitness center, complimentary wireless high-speed Internet access throughout the hotel, indoor pool, business center, complimentary airport shuttle, and a restaurant and lounge serving casual fare for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The hotel offers a presidential suite with a kitchenette and spacious sitting area featuring a 42" HD plasma television and DVD/stereo system. French doors lead to the master bedroom with an elevated king bed and second HD 42" plasma television and a travertine tile master bath with a walk-in shower featuring a hydro-massage body spa system.
The hotel will feature the Crowne Plaza Sleep Advantage, which is available at all Crowne Plaza hotels in the Americas. Sleep Advantage encompasses the entire sleep experience, from training staff on how to create and maintain a restful environment to providing innovative products and services. Program components include new bedding, guaranteed wake-up calls, designated quiet zones, night lights, drape clips, sleep CDs, sleep tips and amenities such as eye masks, ear plugs and lavender spray.
Also consistent with the Crowne Plaza brand, the hotel will offer a comprehensive meetings program to ensure a seamless planning process and exceptional meeting experience consisting of three key components: a Two-Hour Response Guarantee, Crowne Meetings Director and a Daily Meetings Debrief. The Crowne Plaza Portland-Downtown features more than 10,000 square feet of exceptional meeting and banquet space for business functions or special events.
