Baba, the stylish new restaurant at the exclusive Sri panwa resort on cape Panwa, at the southeastern tip of Phuket, celebrated its one-year anniversary in pink.

The party started in the late evening of August 8, 2008, i.e. the lucky 08.08.08, with the party guests being led up the basement hill of Baba's Dining Lounge. The candlelit stairs led the guests up to the pink tinted dining lounge where DJ Op, of Esco Bar, was spinning house party tunes accompanied by the strong sassy vocals of Bonnie Anderson. The third floor showcased a live local band, SKA, wine bar and indoor lounges for comfort between sets.

The delicious menu from Baba's chef team led by Ms. Keon Hwa ¡®Connie¡¯ Lee & Mr. Syed "Feisal" Mohammed presented favorite finger foods; Lemongrass-infused chicken wings, satay trio, grilled sausages and homegrown oyster mushroom tempura. Main course tasters were also presented, including Lychee Duck and the Andaman Si Dang Shrimp.

Luscious cocktails for the evening were served by the famous FLOW mixologists team from Bangkok led by Dannie Sorum with the support of Tanja Hiding; Melon-berri, Born 8.08 and Babalicious were some of the Absolute Vodka-based concoctions crafted alongside Sri panwa's signatures Lycheetini and the Sri panwa cocktails.

On a daily basis, Baba serves breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner, either indoors or alfresco on an expansive terrace -- romantically candlelit in the evening against the backdrop of spectacular sunsets.

The menu combines both authentic Andaman Thai and Continental European cuisines created by the Baba chef team who trained with Sri Panwa's owner Vorasit ¡°Wan¡± Issara at the DCT International School of Hotel & Business Management in Switzerland.

The name BABA comes from the Peranakan name for the male half-Chinese descendants of the Straits Chinese settlers to Malaysia and Southern Thailand, who today form part of the unique indigenous make up of Phuket.

Specializing in unpretentious comfort food prepared to the highest standards and with a twist of luxury, Baba¡¯s home-made western dishes range from salads and pastas to ciabatta sandwiches and Angus Beef burgers.

From the grill comes a range of Andaman seafood & Australian meat options for which Baba is renowned; including tiger prawn, white snapper, grouper, chicken breast, rib-eye steak, strip-loin, duck breast and lamb chops. All are served with a wide variety of delicious sauces, and a choice of fresh vegetables, rice or potato ¨C either mashed, French fried or boiled.

Baba's Andaman Thai specialties include Lime-Chilli-Garlic Snapper and Chilli Chicken, Tom Baba, spicy ¡®Laab minced meat salad, Pomelo salad and traditional noodle dishes.

Finger-food snacks range from chicken wings and tempura to satay, sauted shrimps and grilled Thai or Italian sausages.

The chef team can additionally arrange in-villa dining, BBQ parties for groups or a romantic dinner-for-two anywhere within the grounds of Sri panwa or the islands you see from your pool.

Dining is complimented by an extensive wine list and a range of tropical cocktails. Each night the Sri panwa ¡®honest bar also presents a special ¡®do-it-yourself cocktail for guests to help themselves to.

Baba also holds monthly parties with guest chefs and international DJs; all drawing a hip, young crowd from around the island, Thailand and South East Asia.
