NEW MEMBER HOTELS
The Leading Hotels of the World, Ltd. is pleased to announce that it has accepted the following new member hotels:
Nestled among the rolling hills of a palm plantation, The Club at The Saujana is bordered by two 18-hole championship courses of The Saujana Golf and Country Club. Located 30 minutes from the city of Kuala Lumpur, the hotel has 105 rooms and suites, in contemporary Asian style. Each features understated furnishings and muted tones, contrasted against dark Burmese teak floors. The Restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, while The Lounge offers refreshments, cocktails and afternoon tea. In addition to golf, guests can enjoy the spa, swimming pool and the fitness center at The Saujana at Kuala Lumpur. There are also meeting and banquet facilities for up to 700 people.
Due to open in early 2009 on Jamaica’s Gold Coast, The Palmyra Resort & Spa, will feature 299 suites and villas, each with garden or ocean view. Set amid 16 acres of beachfront in the Rose Hall enclave near Montego Bay, the resort will offer a choice of four restaurants, ranging from casual to elegant fine-dining venues. For recreation and relaxation guests will have access to a 30,000-square-foot spa by ESPA, as well as a water sports center and three championship golf courses. There will also be 11,000 square feet of indoor meeting space, in addition to a wedding chapel and kids’ club.
The Leading Small Hotels of the World has added the following properties to its roster:
Bauer Palladio Hotel & Spa is situated on Giudecca Island, ten minutes from St. Mark’s Square in Venice. This former 16th-century convent features 37 rooms and 13 suites, tastefully appointed with period details and contemporary amenities. A sister to Bauer Hotel and Bauer Il Palazzo, its facilities include the Garden Bar and Restaurant, a fitness center and spa with eight treatment rooms, a wedding chapel and three conference and meeting rooms.
Set to open in December, Chalet Royalp Hotel & Spa is situated in the heart of the Vaud Alps in Villars-sur-Ollon, Switzerland, just an hour and a half from Geneva. Its 63 rooms and suites, each with a private balcony overlooking the park or mountains, provide contemporary comforts in a classic chalet-style setting. Dining options include Le Carnozet for Swiss specialties, the relaxed Le Petit Prince with dedicated children’s area, and the elegant Les Jardins for gourmet fare. One of the first ski-in/out hotels in the area, it also has a swimming pool, sports center and spa. Meeting facilities can accommodate groups of up to 200 people.
Perched on a cliff overlooking the Indian Ocean, Karma Kandara is situated on the southern tip of Bali. The resort’s 40 one-, two-, three-, and four-bedroom villas, each with a private pool, are set amid luxuriant tropical gardens against a stunning landscape of soaring cliffs and rolling waves. The signature restaurant, di Mare, offers a Mediterranean menu with Asian overtones, and the relaxed Nammos beach club grill is complemented by the rooftop Temple Bar for cocktails and appetizers. For recreation, there is the spa and fitness center, and guests have access to the facilities of nearby Karma Jimbaran Resort, another nearby member of The Leading Hotels of the World.
Overlooking the Andaman Sea on the northwest coast of Phuket Island, the Anantara Phuket Resort and Spa will open in October. Each of the 83 expansive villas has the latest technological amenities and its own private pool surrounded by hardwood decking and an open-air living room / sala. Eclectic restaurants include La Sala for Italian cusine with a Sicilian flair, Sea.Fire.Salt for seafood and charcoal specialties, and The Treehouse for Thai-fusion tapas and cocktails. The Spa at Anantara is complemented by a fitness studio, swimming pool and tennis courts, as well as a children’s club. There are meeting facilities for up to 40 people.
The intimate, 60-room Chambers, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, is located in the heart of the Twin Cities' cultural, business and social scenes, across from the historic Orpheum, Pantages and State Theaters. Behind the hotel’s signature mahogany double doors, guests are greeted by an eclectic - and dramatic - mix of more than 130 pieces of original art by internationally renowned artists. Created by Jean-Georges Vongerichten, Chambers Kitchen features modern American cuisine with an Asian flair. Meeting and banquet facilities are available for groups of up to 150 people.
NEW UPGRADED ROOMS LAUNCHED AT THE SHERWOOD TAIPEI
The Sherwood Taipei has unveiled its newly upgraded guest accommodations, offering additional convenience and comfort. Among the many features and services are the use of a private elevator, upgraded seating with footrests, working desks with ergonomic chairs, 37-inch HD LCD televisions, marble bathrooms, broadband and wireless Internet access.
