Hyatt Hotels & Resorts announced today it will operate and manage the new 394-room Hyatt Regency Toronto in downtown Toronto on behalf of King Street Enterprises. The hotel, located at 370 King Street West, will open in January 2009 in the center of the city’s entertainment district, offering close proximity to the burgeoning nightlife scene chic restaurants, clubs and galleries. Adjacent to Toronto’s Fashion District as well, the hotel is within walking distance of major attractions such as the CN Tower, Rogers Centre, Air Canada Centre, Princess of Wales Theatre, Royal Alexandra Theatre, Roy Thomson Hall, Sony Centre for the Performing Arts and the St. Lawrence Market.

Currently undergoing a multi-million dollar renovation that includes entirely new guestrooms, lobby and meeting space, Hyatt Regency Toronto will become the second Hyatt property in the city, joining Park Hyatt Toronto. In addition to the properties in Toronto the Hyatt portfolio in Canada includes Hyatt Regency Montreal, Hyatt Regency Calgary and Hyatt Regency Vancouver.

“We are pleased to add this hotel to our Hyatt family in Toronto and in Canada,” said Chuck Floyd, chief operating officer, North America Operations, Hyatt Hotels & Resorts. “The location has been very successful for King Street Enterprises and we look forward to bringing the services and amenities Hyatt guests have come to expect as well as Hyatt management expertise to the hotel.”

The complete, top-to-bottom renovation of all guestrooms and suites includes outfitting them with signature Hyatt Grand Beds, state-of-the-art 42-inch LG flat screen televisions, modern furniture and fixtures, iHome clock radios, multi-media A/V connection access ports and fully updated bathrooms. The lobby will be reconfigured to offer guest check-in kiosks and a unique reflecting water-fire feature. The hotel will also be unveiling a new contemporary restaurant concept and a dramatic lobby level wine bar that will welcome local as well as hotel guests.

The hotel offers more than 30,000 square feet of newly renovated meeting space, which can be configured to accommodate both large and small meetings and events. Wireless high-speed Internet access throughout the building meets the technology requirements of today’s business travelers. A brand new StayFit@Hyatt gym and a large (approximately 4,700 sq. ft) Regency Club, including an outdoor patio, will be added to the hotel. The outdoor rooftop pool area will be enhanced with updated furnishings and designs accentuated by a fire pit and an Ipe wood deck.
