This year, more than 500 hotels reach scores above 72, including enough in Central America to generate its own Top 10 for the first time, led by Casa Santo Domingo in Antigua, Guatemala. Europe also rises as a powerhouse in 2008, with so many superb properties that we divided the list in two: Southern Europe and Northern Europe, with a list of 50 led by Budapest's Four Seasons Gresham Palace. But it's Asia with the highest rated hotel in the world this year, India's Oberoi Udaivilas.
