Visionary Hotels at Himalayas Center exhibited at Shanghai

New International Expo Center: November 20-23

Shanghai’s latest architectural masterpiece, the ‘Himalayas Center’, incorporating two visionary hotels, is being showcased at the China International Travel Mart 2008.

A giant exhibit complete with 3-D model will introduce the extraordinary new landmark to the travel trade and the public from November 20-23 at the Shanghai New International Expo Center.

The RMB 2.4 billion Himalayas Center opens in Pudong in 2010 in time for the neighbouring Shanghai World Expo.

It is designed by one of the world’s leading architects, Arata Isozaki who is renowned for his work at the Barcelona Olympics Stadium and the Los Angeles Museum of Modern Art.

The Himalayas Center is being hailed by developers, the Zendai Group, as an ‘Archisculptural Masterpiece for 21st century China’.

It incorporates an ultra luxury, boutique-style ‘city retreat’, Zendai Hotel Yin, along with the 5-star Zendai Art Hotel. Other components include the Zendai Museum of Art, DaGuan Theatre with multi-functional auditorium seating for 1,650, Himalayas Mall and Himalayas Creative Complex / Museum Zone.

The 144 sq m exhibit is in W3, booth No. 3E02, of the trade fair. It mirrors the same “forest” design of the Himalayas Center.

Graham Kiy, General Manager of the two hotels, said: “CITM is an ideal opportunity to unveil this sensational new concept to the travel trade and the general public.”

The boutique-style Zendai Hotel Yin will be one of the most prestigious addresses in Shanghai, he said.

Zendai Hotel Yin

Occupying the top four floors of the hotel tower, Zendai Hotel Yin is being designed by world renowned interior designer Khuan Chew of KCA International, who is celebrated for the design of such international icons, the Burj Al Arab in Dubai.

Highly trained butlers will offer unrivalled levels of service for China.

A spa concept incorporating private suites will offer an outstanding range of Chinese, Asian health and beauty treatments and therapies, some using Traditional Chinese Medicines, and others originating in the Himalayas.

A highlight of the hotel will be a modern interpretation of a traditional Chinese tea house serving a wide range of high quality teas and New China Tea Cuisine, and featuring daily performances of Chinese and Asian music.

The 24-hour bibliotheque will offer a wide range of Chinese history, culture, art and music related books and information.

According to the developer, the Zendai Hotel Yin’s cultural offerings will be a “veritable feast for the senses”.

Zendai Art Hotel

The 5-star Zendai Art Hotel occupying the first 14 floors of the hotel tower is also designed by Khuan Chew, with over 300 rooms and suites in contemporary Chinese style, and high-tech communications and services.

The business-style hotel will also feature exceptional dining concepts offering authentic Chinese and International cuisines, including the Shanghai Art Restaurant for fine Shanghainese dining.

Zendai Art Hotel will provide a lobby theater concept that will become a social center of Pudong New district with elegant and artistic Chinese entertainment.

Along with a state of the art gym and indoor pool will be unique “rejuvenation pods” with sensory treatments such as oxygen, lignt, vibration and sound therapy.

For meetings and events, the hotel features a spectacular, cone-shaped 864 square metre ballroom with a 9-metre height ceiling, six private rooms and an impressive 5,300 square metre roof garden.

Both hotels will be “a showcase for modern China, a fusion of Chinese art and culture with modern hospitality at the very highest level”, said Mr. Kiy.

The Himalayas Center is located opposite to Shanghai’s New International Expo Center and just 15 minutes from the city’s main financial district in Pudong. Metro line no. 7 is accessed directly from the basement of the Himalayas Center and the high speed maglev train, for 7-minute transfers and from Pudong airport, is just 10 minutes away.
