The Doubletree(R) Hotel San Diego Downtown is proud to announce that the hotel and its general manager, Rita Baca, were both recently acknowledged with honors by the Hispanic Hotel Owners Association. The Doubletree Hotel San Diego Downtown was honored as Full Service Hotel of the Year for their outstanding performance, most notably due to the recent completion of a multi-phase hotel enhancement and redesign project. The hotel's general manager, Rita Baca, was selected as General Manager of the Year, based on her outstanding leadership in operations, management and community service. The Estrella Awards ceremony during the association's annual Hotel, Development and Investment Conference, was hosted in Miami with more than 250 delegates from five Latin American countries and 25 U.S. states in attendance.
"We are truly proud that these two prestigious Estrella Awards have been presented to the team at the Doubletree Hotel San Diego Downtown," said Dave Horton, senior vice president - brand management for Doubletree Hotels. "This hotel team and its leader, Rita Baca, have invested significantly to ensure their Doubletree hotel is an outstanding gathering place for business and pleasure as well as a responsible business that proudly serves the San Diego community well."
The Doubletree Hotel San Diego Downtown has exhibited significant performance after completing a very successful $11 million renovation project last year. The recent renovations added a unique flair of cutting edge urbanism to the hotel's environment and refreshed the dA(C)cor in all of their 333 tastefully appointed guest rooms and suites. The luxurious rooms at the Doubletree Hotel San Diego Downtown feature the brand's signature Sweet Dreams(R) by Doubletree sleep experience, but also offer balconies with spectacular bay views, widescreen televisions and play stations. The 10,000 sq. feet of flexible meeting space at the Doubletree San Diego Downtown has also been refreshed to provide a comfortable and chic atmosphere that is ideal for both business and social gatherings.
Baca, who brings more than two decades of hospitality industry service to the hotel, directed her team through the successful, multi-million-dollar renovation of the Doubletree Hotel San Diego Downtown last year. She was chosen for this award not only because of her leadership efforts during the past year, but also because of her inspiring outreach projects and involvement within the San Diego and Hispanic communities. She is a proud member of the San Diego Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, RCMA (Religious Management Conference Association) and the Denver Rescue Mission. Baca also organized a hotel wide food drive from each department, which resulted in more than 300 lbs of food being donated to the San Diego Food Bank. Additionally, during the second quarter of this past year, Baca organized a community blood drive in the hotel in collaboration with the San Diego Blood Bank.
The Doubletree Hotel San Diego Downtown is operated by American Property Management Corporation, under a franchise agreement with a subsidiary of Hilton Hotels Corporation.
"Rita lives the standards of hospitality excellence she requires from her team each and every day, and they frequently look to her for guidance, encouragement and support," said Michael Gallegos, President and CEO of American Property Management Corporation. "Apart from her expertise in the hospitality field, Rita has created a fair and equitable environment and fostered a culture of growth and ambition. She continually encourages her staff to share their dreams, expand their horizons and follow their hearts, which has led to this hotel's incredible success."
The Doubletree Hotel San Diego Downtown is located at the northern entrance to downtown San Diego from Interstate 5 at 1646 Front Street, San Diego, California, United States 92101.
