Radisson Plaza Hotel Sanya Lu Hui Tou to Open in 2011

Carlson Hotels Worldwide – Asia Pacific (CHW-AP), one of the world’s largest privately-owned hotel companies, has signed an agreement with China’s Sanya Lu Hui Tou Tourism Development Co., Ltd, to manage a new Radisson Plaza hotel in Sanya, the southernmost city in Hainan.

This latest addition to the Radisson Plaza portfolio, the premium extension of Radisson® Hotels & Resorts, supports CHW-AP’s development plans to more than double its presence in Asia over the next four years. Radisson is the upscale, full-service brand in the Carlson portfolio.

Radisson Plaza Hotel Sanya Lu Hui Tou, which is scheduled to open in the second quarter of 2011, will be located five kilometres from Sanya city on the Lu Hui Tou peninsular.

The 240-room property will have direct access to a 700 metre private beach with spectacular views of Sanya Bay, one of the five major bays in the area.

“Sanya is Hainan’s most popular tourism destination and Lu Hui Tou peninsular is a key development area. There is currently a conference centre as well as several leisure and entertainment districts under development, and the expansion of the airport is also underway. It is exciting to introduce the Radisson brand in this fast-growing market,” said Xerxes Meher-Homji, Executive Vice President and Chief Development Officer, Carlson Hotels Worldwide –Asia Pacific.

Radisson Plaza Hotel Sanya Lu Hui Tou will be surrounded by upscale shopping, dining and entertainment outlets and is in close proximity to an 18-hole golf course. The property will also include approximately 60 one, two or three-bedroom villas.

“Radisson Plaza is fast becoming a recognised brand name in China, known for superior service and quality. This hotel will have shared emphasis on both leisure and business travellers, as well as the meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions segment,” said Yan Qi, Chairman, Sanya Lu Hui Tou Tourism Development Co., Ltd.

CHW-AP currently has another five hotels under development in China including the Radisson Plaza Hotel Tianjin and Radisson Hotel Liuzhou.
