Karma Kandara, Bali’s luxurious new resort and residential development, launched its brand new Karma Spa on 1 December 2008, offering guests some of the most distinctive spa experiences on the island.

Opening just in time to help guests prepare for and recover from the excesses of the festive season, the 127 sq metre spa is perched high up on the cliff top and boasts dazzling views over the Indian Ocean. Two double glass-fronted ‘spa shacks’ and ‘healing huts’ look out to sea, while the relaxation area and saltwater Jacuzzi offer guests the chance to regenerate under the star-filled sky.

The Karma Spa concept offers a welcome departure from the usual spa menu, with something for everyone from yoga, Reiki and holistic therapies, to personal grooming and ‘boot camps’ hosted by international consultants and sporting stars. World-class treatments include Intraceuticals Oxygen Infusion facials a favourite of celebrities including Madonna, Eva Longoria and Justin Timberlake; live kelp rituals using locally grown seaweed; chakra balancing crystal therapies and soul cleansing; and men’s grooming.

Authentic Balinese temple rituals and one-off massages add a local flavour to the spa menu, and guests can strike a pose at daily evening yoga sessions at the roof top Temple Lounge. For the ultimate in pampering luxury, guests will be able to enjoy spa treatments in the privacy of their own villa, or in shady cabanas on the beach. Treatments use local, fresh and organic ingredients and are carried out by a team of body workers trained by the best Reiki masters and healers. Karma Spa’s commitment to using locally sustainable ingredients is also revealed through a boutique collection of specially blended spa products.

A regular programme of celebrity healers and consultants will offer transforming experiences such as hair styling and grooming by British stylist to the stars, Lisa Burns. Renowned female boxer Erin McGown and personal trainer Janine Powerhouse will also be available to help guests keep in shape. Karma Spa will also offer a range of spa packages incorporating unique selections of treatment to suit all guests, including the four night/five day ‘Martini & Manicure’ retreats, ideal for girly getaways with just the right balance of health and the decadence.

Karma Spa at Karma Kandara will be the first of several new Karma Spa developments at Karma Resorts in Bali, Koh Samui, India and Fiji. Future projects include the opening of a dedicated male grooming emporium at Karma Jimbaran, in Bali, in partnership with renowned men’s lifestyle salon Gentlemen’s Tonic of Mayfair.
