Swissôtel Hotels & Resorts’ Regional Vice President, Asia Pacific and General Manager of Swissôtel The Stamford, Singapore, Mr Aiden McAuley, walked away with the coveted The Best in Southeast Asia HAPA Most Dynamic General Manager award at the prestigious Hospitality Asia Platinum Awards (HAPA) Regional Series 2008-2010.
At a glittering awards ceremony held recently in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Aiden McAuley claimed awards not only for himself but also earned several other noteworthy honours for the hotel that he helms. Swissôtel The Stamford’s Executive Pastry Chef, Kenny Kong, received the Most Stylistic Pastry Chef for the second consecutive year, and the Security Department won the Exceptional Hotel Security award. Various other individuals and departments of Swissôtel The Stamford were also recognised in several categories.
Established in 2002, The Hospitality Platinum Asia Awards, widely acknowledged as the "Oscars" of the Asian hospitality industry, celebrate the highest flyers, recognising the crème de la crème of the hospitality industry across all levels. Focusing on the people who strive to give guests an exceptional hospitality experience, this annual soiree, has become a much-anticipated event for hoteliers and businesses within and associated with the hospitality industry. The judging panel comprises distinguished professionals from within Asia’s hospitality and culinary circles.
The HAPA Most Dynamic General Manager Award recognises the most senior executive of a hotel. The individual of choice must not only exude warmth and generosity but also have a proven track record of outstanding service and performance delivery. A true leader who is able to inspire his team to be worthy hospitality ambassadors. Aiden McAuley, armed with over 25 years of experience and intrinsic knowledge of the hospitality industry, clearly epitomises these qualities with his steadfast management style and charismatic personality.
An Irish national, Aiden McAuley’s career with Swissôtel Hotels & Resorts began in the United Kingdom in 2000 where he was General Manager of Swissôtel The Howard, London. He relocated to Singapore in 2005 where he assumed the position of General Manager of the 1,261-room Swissôtel The Stamford, Singapore as well as the 70,000 sq ft Raffles City Convention Centre. After just a year in this position and in light of the new Swissôtel developments in Asia, he was given an expanded role as Area General Manager for South Asia and The Pacific for Swissôtel Hotels & Resorts.
Currently, in addition to his role as the General Manager of Swissôtel The Stamford, Aiden McAuley is also Regional Vice President, Asia Pacific for Swissôtel Hotels & Resorts where he oversees Swissôtel properties in Thailand, Singapore, Australia and Japan, focusing on the co-ordination and supervision of hotel operations. At a corporate level, Aiden McAuley has direct oversight of owner relationships and brand development of the Swissôtel brand in the region. Prior to Swissôtel Hotels & Resorts, Aiden McAuley held various key positions in properties in London, Glasgow and Ascot.
