Taj Hotels Resorts & Palaces today announced the highly anticipated opening of its new premium city hotel in the IT nerve centre of Bangalore. The hotel also bears a new name and identity: “Vivanta by Taj - Whitefield, Bangalore” and is slotted in the ‘upper upscale’ segment. The stunningly designed hotel arrests attention, being located right at the entry-point of the ITPB (International Tech Park, Bangalore) at Whitefield in East Bangalore. With this, the Taj now operates five hotels in the city.

Vivanta addresses the needs of a sophisticated and cosmopolitan customer group, with 199 stylish guest rooms, eclectic entertainment and dining options and a spectrum of facilities offered specifically based on a deep study of the new generation traveler’s lifestyle. Vivanta is designed to deliver vibrant experiences; combining the charming hospitality that is the hallmark of the Taj, with a contemporary, vivacious twist!

The name Vivanta is drawn from vivacity, vividness & ‘bon vivant’: an appreciation of the good things in life. It speaks of style, refinement and living life to the full.

“We are delighted to open this new hotel in the vibrant, cosmopolitan city of Bangalore. Our growth plans envisage a critical role for this key metropolis and we look forward to making a strong impression with this unique offering” commented Raymond N Bickson, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, The Indian Hotels Company Limited.

Jamshed Daboo, the Chief Operating Officer, Taj Premium Hotels explained “Our hotel in its physical form, the services we offer & the imagery that Vivanta creates are all in perfect sync with the ethos of Bangalore. Vivanta Whitefield Bangalore is high-spirited & stylish and will appeal to the agile ‘work-hard-play-hard’ hotel user. We have collaborated with this customer set and have devised a creative set of experiences which seek to surprise & delight our guests in small but meaningful ways”.

Design at Vivanta
WOW Architects/Warner Wong Design, Singapore have created a stellar structure that weaves from the ground and flexes its way mid-air to contain the spaces within. To personify the borderless/always-on profile of its new generation guests, the building is designed as a flowing “landscraper” that blends the building with the earth and makes it an experientially rich hospitality space.

Seeking to create a hub within the Tech Park, the lobby serves as a confluence from where space ‘flows’ in several directions, encouraging social interaction on a myriad of levels. Many public areas are in the open; green and inviting guests to walk, climb and seek relief from the dense city life.

In order to integrate the distinction between architecture and landscape the material palette is striking yet sympathetic to each other. An amalgam of ‘in-situ’ concrete, stone, rough plaster, wood making up the façade and the room block sheathed in a digitized landscape image of green and blue glass makes Vivanta probably the most unique hotel structure in a long time!

Form at Vivanta
The rooms at Vivanta are designed for a perfect amalgam of work and play. Natural mood lighting, different layouts & intelligent use of space makes for a habitat that is both involving as well as comforting. Considering its location in the Tech Park, the rooms have a strong tech orientation: Interactive TVs, Internet Protocol (IP) telephones, a multimedia panel allow the guest to work or play with top efficiency. Of course, high bandwidth wireless internet & home-theatre surround system are par for the course.

The accommodations are also named to describe the stay experience. Thus Vivanta has Charm, Delight & Indulgence rooms and Allure, Temptation and Nirvana suites! And the resident lounge is Rhythm. A twenty-five meter long pool and tennis courts compliment the smart gym; and a signature Jiva spa along with a salon opens shortly. An already operational Taj Khazana outlet will be complimented by other retail shops very soon.

The legendary Taj flair for food & beverage is taken further enhanced with a swath of innovative F&B options. Orchestrated by Chef Ananda Solomon, there is a new twist to all of the cuisines on offer. Latitude, the all-day diner gives world cuisine a spin and sports a ‘buffet guide’ to help navigate the variety of options. Terracotta is the Indian specialty restaurant, with live cooking from the north-west frontier region and a collection of show-case cooking elements. The rooftop bar & grill is Tease: its garden pavilion is the epitome of cool while indoors an international DJ spins hot. Caramel a deli serving sinful indulgences as well as health foods will soon open. All of the outlets have al fresco sections, allowing patrons to enjoy the Bangalore weather.

Vivanta by Taj – Whitefield, Bangalore is a hotel for the business nomad & offers a suite of conferencing & banquet facilities. Tango, the banquet hall is over 500 square meters of contemporary meeting space, tuned with digital audio systems & hi speed T-1 internet access. Agenda is the board room equipped for power meets.

Experiences at Vivanta
Guests will notice a new hospitality experience at Vivanta: touching all the senses. The customer’s interaction with hotels was studied & a series of touch-points have been engineered: to energize as well as relax the guest. Starting with the limousine, which has touches like games, massage seat, direct connect phone to the hotel, a signature brand aroma in the lobby, the experiences continue all across. The mini-bar in the room stocks a range of health drinks & is called ‘Treat Yourself”. On offer in the rooms are yoga mats with instructions for simple ‘asnas’. In all of the F&B outlets too there will be such small surprises in store.

Vivanta by Taj – Whitefield, Bangalore is slated to be the ultimate urban escape & a perfect spot for work or play.
