Brand welcomes Fairmont Residences, Zamalek Island, Cairo

Fairmont Hotels & Resorts today announced a new addition to its growing residential collection, Fairmont Residences, Zamalek Island, Cairo. Located on the banks of the Nile River on Gezira Island in the highly sought-after Zamalek District, the residences lie between modern downtown Cairo and Giza, an exquisite place to call home. Fairmont Residences, Zamalek Island, developed by Palm Properties is an exclusive lifestyle offering, providing owners with an elegant home that meets Fairmont's exacting luxury standards and provides the brand's renowned service excellence. Construction is currently underway with sales scheduled to start in early 2009, and the project slated to open in 2010. The development will build on Fairmont's presence in Cairo, joining Fairmont Heliopolis and Fairmont Towers Heliopolis, and Fairmont Nile City, opening in 2009.

Blending contemporary design with a rich cultural heritage, Fairmont Residences, Zamalek Island offers twenty-one luxurious two and three bedroom residences, ranging in size from 243 m2 (2615 sq. ft) to 521 m2 (5600 sq. ft). Each spacious residence features a terrace, with multi-level layouts incorporating lavish dining and outdoor living space. There are elegant finishes throughout, with oak wood flooring, fully fitted tile kitchens and bespoke bathrooms, and digital climate control. Fairmont Residences, Zamalek Island will offer owners an array of personalized services and amenities, which include housekeeping, valet, security, underground parking and maintenance. Owners will also have access to a broad range of exclusive Fairmont ownership benefits.

Zamalek is an affluent, European-influenced neighborhood with a residential feel, with colonial buildings and tree-lined avenues. Residents can enjoy a variety of galleries, museums, world-class restaurants, high-end shopping, family-friendly activities as well as business facilities. Fairmont Residences, Zamalek Island is a short drive from the illustrious Gezira Sporting Club, a large private club frequented by Cairo's elite, and is also close to the modern Cairo Opera House and the Cairo Tower.

"Fairmont is committed to growing in our profile and brand awareness in the Middle East, and we're pleased to welcome this new residential project in the region, joining new developments in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Makkah," said Thomas W. Storey, President, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts. "Extending our presence in Cairo, one of the world's most diverse and vibrant cities, and working with Palm Properties, ensures we will be delivering an unparalleled residential product."

Other Fairmont Residences projects are currently underway on the Palm Jumeirah in Dubai; Vancouver, British Columbia; Vail and Breckenridge, Colorado; Roco Ki in Punta Cana, Domincan Republic; and Anguilla in the British West Indies.
